INTERSOS Ukraine is a subdivision of the international humanitarian organization INTERSOS (Italy).

We provide support to victims of emergencies, armed conflicts and natural disasters with particular attention to the most vulnerable categories: children, women, elderly people, displaces persons, who were forced to flee their homes and moved to safer places and also to those who cannot leave the dangerous regions and are under constant threat.

INTERSOS teams are present in Odesa, Kiev, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Mykolayiv, Kherson and now expand their activities in Sumy.

INTERSOS Ukraine provides economic, humanitarian and medical aid, psychological support, organizes educational activities, gives medicines and equipment to the hospitals, provides shelter and ensures basic human needs. During one year of our work in Ukraine we provided support to more than 100 000 people. 75 000 of them received aid in the sphere of protection, prevention and emergency care. 3 000 medical consultations were carried out in remote regions, which are not covered by the official heath care system. 49 medical institutions received medicines, medical devices and equipment.

We are opening a vacancy of the Mine Action Manager

Location: Odesa, with business trips to all project locations: Dnipro, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Kherson oblasts and Kyiv office for coordination purposes if needed.

Duration of contract: 6 months with a possibility for extension

Main Purpose

The Mine Action Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, ensuring the exchange of learning experiences and supporting the partners in the supervision of all the Mine Action activities implemented within the AICS-funded project in partnership with UDA and RCC, and under the supervision of the INTERSOS Project ManagerThe project includes extensive travelling to field locations in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Kherson oblasts. The position plays a central role in liaising with authorities, partners, and coordination mechanisms, while ensuring that INTERSOS and its partners effectively delivers high-quality, safe, and impactful Mine Action interventions.

Hierarchical: Project Manager//Consortium Coordinator

Functional: Protection Coordinator

Functional collaboration: Technical staff of UDA and RCC

Tasks

Technical and Operational Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and jointly with the partners supervise NTS, reNTS, TS, and marking activities implemented by UDA and RCC.
  • Ensure jointly with the partners full compliance with IMAS, Mine Action Centre (MAC) regulations, and Ukrainian national standards.
  • Along with partners, the proper use and maintenance of technical equipment (metal detectors, GPS/GIS systems, drones, marking kits).
  • Collaborates with the partners in quality assurance of survey and marking operations, including review and validation of IMSMA reports.
  • Collaborate with international technical consultants to guarantee effective start-up, monitoring, and final verification of Mine Action activities.
  • Ensure learning exchange among INTERSOS and the implementing partners

Coordination and Representation

  • In coordination with the Protection Coordinator, act as the focal point for INTERSOS in Mine Action-related coordination forums (Protection Cluster, Mine Action AoR, EORE Working Group).
  • Liaise with national and local authorities, civil society, and other humanitarian actors.
  • Along with the Project Manager//Consortium Coordinator, ensure strong partnership management and promote the involvement of Italian technical expertise and companies, in line with Sistema Italia strategy.

Project Cycle Management

  • Contribute to operational planning, workplans, and monitoring tools for Mine Action activities.
  • Support timely and quality technical reporting to INTERSOS Project Manager, Protection Coordinator, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Facilitate information-sharing and data management, ensuring compliance with IMSMA and donor requirements.
  • Provide technical inputs for the development of mine risk education-awareness campaigns and awareness-raising initiatives.
  • Support with organizational functions such as HR (e.g., appraisals, workforce planning), logistics and procurement (e.g., equipment and asset management) and other management aspects.

Team Management and Capacity Building

  • Collaborate in providing guidance and support to INTERSOS, UDA, and RCC staff working on Mine Action.
  • Facilitate the organization of training, mentoring, and technical capacity strengthening in coordination with international experts, UDA, and RCC.
  • Ensure adherence to INTERSOS safety and security policies, and contribute to staff and beneficiary protection.

Requirements

Education

  • Advanced university degree in International Relations, Political Science, Humanitarian Studies, Engineering, Security Studies, or related field.
  • IMAS EOD Level 3 certification is required and other relevant professional training in Mine Action (survey, marking, or EORE) is a strong asset.

Professional requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in humanitarian Mine Action (survey, clearance, marking, or risk education) projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating with Mine Action Centres, clusters, or donor-funded Mine Action programmes.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with ERP systems is an asset
  • Strong technical knowledge of IMAS, Mine Action coordination mechanisms, and IMSMA data management.

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team management abilities.
  • Cultural sensitivity, commitment to humanitarian principles, gender, and protection mainstreaming.
  • Willingness and ability to move in different oblasts based on project needs

Languages

  • Fluency in Ukrainian is required
  • Professional Proficiency of English (written and spoken) is required.
