On May 8, 2025, an act came into force. It gives State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection new powers — control over the content of vacancies. This is stated in an official message on the agency’s website.

Work.ua reports what inspections and wording in content of vacancies will be banned by State Service for Food, Consumer Protection and Consumer Rights Protection.

From now State Service for Food, Consumer Protection and Consumer Rights Protection has the authority to monitor compliance with the legislation on advertising in the field of employment. All advertisements published by employers or recruitment agencies fall under monitoring.

The agency says the focus of the inspections will be:

  • Discrimination based on age, gender, health, race or ethnic origin. This includes statements such as «looking for candidates under 35,» «young team,» «hiring only men,» and so on.
  • Manipulation: exaggerating salaries without specifying the conditions, withholding important information (e.g. night shifts or probationary period), using vague or misleading wording.

«Employers should review their advertisements now and bring them into line with legal requirements. This will not only avoid fines, but will also help maintain the trust of candidates. If you notice discriminatory or misleading vacancies, record the violation and contact the territorial departments of the State Service for the Protection of Consumer Rights and Human Rights. The labor market should have transparent and equal rules for everyone», — emphasized Deputy Head of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection Andriy Kreitor.

We remind you that according to the act «On Advertising», for discrimination in the text of a vacancy, the advertiser pays a fine to the state budget in the amount of ten times the minimum wage. Today, this amount is 80 000 UAH.
