PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

July 2023- November 2024 – INGO Nonviolent Peaceforce in Ukraine, Safety and Security Advisor

Area of responsibility: Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions.

Responsibilities:

- Monitor the political, country and state-level contexts closely; disseminate noteworthy updates

to teams on a daily basis.

- Review all mission/trip plans and SOP’s for movements outside of the normal operating area.

- Organize and facilitate safety and security training for all NPUA staff on a rolling basis.

- Regularly visit field sites to ensure all NP compounds, guesthouses, and vehicles uphold minimum

safety and security standards and make recommendations based on those assessments.

- Review the country office and field site’s Risk Analysis, Minimum Operating Standards Checklist,

and Contingency plans monthly. Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities and provide feedback

on how to mitigate them.

- Monitor the security landscape closely and make recommendations to adjust security policies and

procedures as needed.

- Liaise with government, security analysis organizations, humanitarian partners,

and community leaders to inform context when conducting analysis.

July 2022- July 2023 International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) in Ukraine as a Deputy Safety
Advisor

Area of responsibility Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions of Ukraine.

With the INSO South Team I supported the safety of aid workers by establishing safety coordination
platforms in insecure contexts and providing registered NGOs with a range of free services, including
realtime incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management
support, staff orientations, and training, helps NGOs to understand the context in the region and to
mitigate risks.

Responsibilities:

- Collecting and verifying incidents and events in the region related to the safety of NGO workers
operating in the area.

- Managing and updating incident databases to ensure the organization’s records are accurate and
complete.

- Assisting the Safety Advisor in preparing and issuing regular reports, area assessments, and other INSO
products requested by the aid community.

- Working with the Safety Advisor to analyze the operating environment and identify trends.

- Attending regular humanitarian coordination meetings to build relations with and brief partners and
remain current on humanitarian activities in the area.

- Using data and databases to create charts, visualizations, and maps.

- Working with the Safety Advisor to identify, hire, and train field monitors to ensure robust and even
information collection.

- Translating relevant communications from local language(s) into English and vice-versa.

- Supporting the Safety Advisor in assessing regional risks.

- Building relations and engaging with UN actors, NGO partners, local authorities, and local communities
to understand community perceptions.
