And the further and further out you go, the amount of fabric grows expinentially, and that ends up causing this crumpling effect.

Після років праці, він усвідомив, що можливо п’ята постулата могла б бути цілковито незалежною, оскільки не може бути доведеною іншими чотирьма. Розумієте, як писав Евклід, у вас може бути одна паралельна лінія, що проходить кріз точку. Але Бояї уявив світ, в якому могло б бути більше ніж одна лінія, яка проходе крізь точку.
Коли я думав про гіперболічну площину, я просто уявляв її, як одне величезне сідло. Але насправді це не так. Гіперболічна площина більш нагадує цю частину в’язаного виробу гачком. Починається він доволі рівномірно навіть в середині, але коли ти рухаєшся вшир створюючи виріб, то цей процес ніби розсовує паралельні лінії в різні сторони. І чим більше ви в’яжете, тим більша кількість тканини росте в геометричній прогресії, що в кінцевому підсумку призводить до нібито пожмаканого ефекту.
