Product Overview:

BackgroundYoung Guns is a family-owned business founded in 2004 by brothers Scott and Trent Young which specialises in the packing and unpacking of shipping containers. Since its foundation the business has expanded into four states with over 400 members in the team. Young Guns transformed a typically unskilled, unreliable and highly transient work force into a highly engaged team of professionals delivering a service that not only packed and unpacked shipping containers but also drove improvements into the Supply Chain and consistently challenges ‘best practice'.Young Guns require an Enterprise Business System which supports their current and future business activities and also enables the company to quickly respond to and incorporate advancements in technology. Since June 2017, Global Tech Incubator (GTI) and Young Guns have been in discussions and workshops to understand the Young Guns current business process, problems being faced and future considerations and ideas. This resulted in documentation of stakeholder requirements, which GTI and Young Guns collectively walked through, discussed, evolved and prioritised through a series of meeting in July 2017 to drive an enterprise solution. In September 2017 GTI received approval from Young Guns to proceed with the design, development and delivery of an Enterprise Business System which meets their business drivers and supports their future growth.

ProjectThe project will follow an Agile approach which focuses on delivering essential quality products of core value to the client, promotes sustainable development and continuous feedback. The next step of the engagement involves identifying the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) from the stakeholder requirements and key business drivers; which GTI have committed to delivering to Young Guns by February 2018. The MVP is a software build which focuses on delivering what is of importance to Young Guns and provides them with immediate business value and feedback for future product development. The project team will follow two week sprints, aiming to progressively deliver functional components which can be showcased to the client. Paramount to the success of this project is transparency and collaboration with Young Guns on the design and development of their Enterprise Business System, starting with the MVP. Due to the nature of Young Guns business, some of the Enterprise Business System functionality may best be delivered as Software as a Service (SaaS) or an off the shelf product. Future phases of the project will evaluate the need for and various options available to decide on a build vs buy approach. Design and development considerations for the MVP and future deliverables are to include ease of integration to third party products and cloud based services.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Interface with stakeholder (Australia) to clarify and improve the requirements quality
  • Test the requirements on compatibility with already developed functional
  • Interface with the Solutions Owner (Australia) to understand the Business Requirements, Stakeholder Requirements and Solution Requirements
  • Review and input into requirements documentation taking into consideration downstream Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Finalize user story acceptance criteria in consultation with other teams, for completeness and consideration of SDLC downstream activities
  • Review and provide feedback to ensure that the User Experience is aligned with the solution requirements, prior to approval by Solution Owner
  • Write acceptance test cases aligned to user stories
  • Review integration test cases aligned to technical design
  • Apply change requests and feedback from design team to solution requirements
  • Ensure that the solution satisfies the functional requirements
  • Work within defined processes to ensure quality solutions

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU

  • 3+ years in software development on QA/BA role
  • Bachelor’s/Master's Degree of Computer Science, Engineering, or comparable field of study
  • English level Upper-Intermediate or higher
  • Extensive knowledge of test methodology/test approaches
  • Comprehensive experience in functional testing
  • Comprehensive experience in test design
  • Knowledge of SDLC
  • Knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, Zephyr
  • Open and team-minded personality and communicative

As a plus

  • Knowledge of SQL
  • Knowledge of any Programming Language
