Responsibilities and skills involved

• Employed as a volunteer RN educator with an Ukrainian NGO

• Providing courses in Tactical Combat Casualty Care, first aid & basic life support/CPR (requirements varied depending upon group)

Responsibilities and skills involved

• Employed as a Clinical Nurse in various extremely isolated & remote locales

• Clinical practice in Australian Aboriginal communities with the combined burdens of endemic chronic disease, socio-economic hardship, paucity of resources, mental health crises, EtOh & drug related violence and extreme geographic isolation

• Wet-season access to most communities (with the exception of Alice Springs) impossible for 4 to 6 months of the year due to weather related road conditions

• All acute emergency, road ambulance & aeromedical case preparation performed by on-site CN's, RN's, Indigenous Health Workers & community ambulance driver

• Facilities typically consist of a 1 to 3 bay ED only - No acute beds

• 1 or 2 Dr's sometimes present for Primary Care FIFO clinic no more than 3 days of the week at best

• No doctors on full-time staff

• Extremely demanding role demanding a high degree of confidence, autonomy, mastery of clinical skills & diagnostic decision making
