HOS Compliance Specialist

The HOS Compliance Specialist is responsible for monitoring drivers' Hours of Service (HOS), reviewing electronic logs, identifying potential violations, and working with drivers and operations teams to maintain compliance with FMCSA regulations and company policies.

The specialist should proactively identify compliance risks, communicate issues promptly, and help prevent HOS violations before they occur.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor drivers' Hours of Service (HOS) and electronic logs (ELD) on a daily basis.
• Monitor available driving, on-duty, off-duty, sleeper berth, and recap hours.
• Identify current and potential HOS violations.
• Monitor compliance with the 11-hour driving limit, 14-hour duty window, 30-minute break requirement, and 60/70-hour cycle limits.
• Notify drivers and dispatchers about HOS limitations that may affect trip planning or load completion.
• Review drivers' logs and identify incorrect duty statuses, missing certifications, unidentified driving events, and other discrepancies.
• Contact drivers regarding required log corrections and follow up until the issue is resolved.
• Monitor proper use of Personal Conveyance, Yard Move, Sleeper Berth, and other ELD statuses.
• Assist drivers with HOS- and ELD-related questions.
• Maintain accurate records of violations, corrections, and other compliance issues.
• Monitor drivers with repeated violations and report recurring compliance problems.
• Escalate serious or repeated violations to the manager or Safety Department.
• Communicate and cooperate with Dispatch, Operations, Safety, and Fleet Management teams.
• Prepare HOS reports when required.
• Follow company procedures and FMCSA Hours of Service requirements.

Requirements:

• Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks at the same time.
• Good computer skills, including Excel/Google Sheets and internal company systems.
• Ability to communicate professionally with drivers, dispatchers, and other departments.
• Understanding of the US trucking industry is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of FMCSA Hours of Service regulations is preferred.
