Carrier Relations Specialist

The Carrier Relations Specialist is responsible for sourcing transportation capacity, building relationships with carriers, negotiating freight rates, and ensuring successful execution of customer shipments. This role serves as a key liaison between carriers, operations, and sales teams to maximize service quality, carrier engagement, and profitability.

Responsibilities:

• Source and secure qualified carriers for customer freight.
• Negotiate freight rates and service terms with carriers.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with carrier partners.
• Post and manage available loads on load boards and transportation platforms.
• Monitor market conditions and carrier capacity trends.
• Communicate load details, pickup and delivery requirements, and customer expectations to carriers.
• Verify carrier compliance and ensure all required documentation is current.
• Coordinate with Operations, Sales, and Dispatch teams to ensure successful load execution.
• Track shipments and proactively address service issues.
• Maintain accurate records of carrier communications, rate negotiations, and load activity.
• Assist with carrier onboarding and network development initiatives.
• Resolve carrier-related issues, including service failures, detention, layovers, and accessorial requests.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in English.
• Previous experience in freight brokerage, logistics, dispatch, transportation, sales, or customer service.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
