Job description

What’s happening

Portraithy is a Ukrainian studio of premium hand-painted oil portraits. 11 years on the US market. 15,000+ clients. Etsy, own website, Instagram. English is the working language — 80% of our customers are Americans.

Right now the company is making a strategic shift: scaling our own e-com channels (website + Instagram). We need someone who will take the sales team and turn it into a working machine — fast, systematically, without «let's wait another month.»

What this role is

This is not a position for someone who likes to analyze. It’s for someone who analyzes quickly and acts immediately.

The diagnostics are already done: gap maps, funnel baseline, lead processing map. You’re not walking into chaos from scratch — you’re walking into a moment where everything is clear and it just needs to get done. In weeks, not months.

Your result — a system that sells without you in manual mode. You manage numbers and people, not fires.

Important: we want a leader who knows the customer journey from the inside

We don’t believe in heads of sales who manage «from above» without understanding how a client moves from the first message to payment. We have e-com, English-language conversations, real people with emotions and questions — and every touchpoint in that journey affects conversion.

That’s why in the first weeks you work with leads yourself — you handle conversations, close deals, feel objections firsthand. Not because there’s no one else, but because that’s the only way to truly understand where the system works, where it breaks, and what needs to change.

This understanding is the foundation from which you effectively manage the team, improve existing processes, and build new systems for the company’s growth. A leader without this experience can only copy someone else’s solutions. A leader with it — creates their own.

If the idea of working hands-on at the start feels wrong to you — this role isn’t for you. If it sounds refreshingly honest — keep reading.

What needs to get done

First 30 days — in parallel: working with leads + launching regular processes, CRM setup, KPI tracking. Not «figuring things out» — actually doing both.

By day 60 — conversions are measured and managed, role-plays are running, onboarding works, team resistance is broken, operations start coming off leadership’s plate.

By day 90 — the department runs as a system, leadership is free, conversions are at target, revenue is growing vs baseline.

There’s a team of managers to strengthen, not replace. There are real challenges — not invented ones. That’s exactly what makes this interesting.

You’re our person if

  • You have a real case where you took a broken or underperforming sales team and built it into a system — with numbers and timelines (not «worked on it for a year,» but «implemented this in 6 weeks»)
  • You don’t need months to «get into the context» — you read situations fast and move
  • You’ve broken team resistance and know how it works — not through conflict, but through results
  • Text-based sales (messengers, e-com conversations) are your natural environment
  • English B2+ — you can write to an American client right now and not think twice
  • You use AI tools at work — ChatGPT, Claude and similar — and don’t see them as optional extras
  • You’re drawn to a real challenge, not comfort. You like it when a task is hard and not everyone would take it on

This role is not for you if

  • You need to «fully understand everything» before you start acting
  • You prefer polished reports over uncomfortable numbers
  • The idea of working with leads at the start feels beneath you — «I'm a manager»
  • Managing a team means «control» to you, not «making everyone stronger»

Conditions

  • Remote, 5/2, Kyiv timezone with overlap into US working hours
  • Reports to: CEO / COO. Direct reports: sales managers and account managers
  • Base salary — discussed at offer stage
  • Bonus system tied to real milestones: money for a system implemented on time, conversion growth, plan execution, onboarding a new manager to target metrics. Peak season (US holidays) — compensation reviewed upward
