DevOps engineer

We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to own and evolve the infrastructure behind two product lines: our multi-tenant SaaS platform and our IoT device backend. You’ll work directly with the founding engineer on cloud architecture, deployment automation, and security, with real ownership from day one. As the team grows, this role is expected to evolve into leading a small DevOps team.

What You’ll Do

Multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure

• Manage and improve multi-tenant infrastructure across separate GCP projects (isolated per tenant for blast-radius containment)
• Own CI/CD pipelines for a Symfony-based application deployed on Google App Engine
• Configure and maintain networking: Direct VPC egress, cross-region migrations, nginx, load balancing
• Implement and maintain Zero Trust security architecture (Cloudflare Zero Trust)

IoT backend infrastructure

• Deploy and maintain server infrastructure for IoT device communication, including MQTT brokers
• Support and scale backend services written in Node.js and Python
• Ensure secure, reliable device-to-server connectivity (auth, TLS, message queuing, uptime)
• Set up monitoring and alerting tailored to device fleets and message throughput

General

• Set up and maintain observability stack (Prometheus + Grafana) for metrics, dashboards, and alerting across both platforms
• Set up monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices across both platforms
• Optimize cloud costs and resource allocation
• mprove deployment reliability and reduce release friction (e.g. resolving asset pipeline/CI duplication issues)
• Document infrastructure decisions and build runbooks as the systems scale
• Eventually: hire, mentor, and lead a DevOps team covering both product lines

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in DevOps/infrastructure roles
• Strong hands-on experience with GCP (App Engine, VPC, IAM, networking)
• Experience with CI/CD tooling and pipeline design (e.g. GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Cloud Build)
• Solid Linux administration and nginx configuration skills
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar)
• Hands-on experience with Prometheus and Grafana (or comparable observability stack) for metrics and dashboards
• Experience deploying and operating MQTT brokers (e.g. Mosquitto, EMQX, HiveMQ) or similar message-queue infrastructure
• Comfortable supporting backend services in Node.js and Python (deployment, process management, debugging environment issues)
• Experience with Cloudflare or similar Zero Trust / edge security tools is a plus
• Prior exposure to IoT device fleets or embedded/hardware-adjacent projects is a plus
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment with direct ownership
• Leadership potential or prior lead/mentoring experience is a strong plus
