Senior, Lead Full Stack Engineer (Node.js, TypeScript, Product Engineering, AI)

We are looking for a strong Senior / Lead Full Stack Engineer to join an international product team working on long-term, large-scale web products for a top 10 US-based hosting company.

This role is designed for an experienced engineer who can work across backend and frontend, take ownership of complex product areas, make independent technical decisions, improve architecture, mentor other engineers, and contribute to the development of reliable, scalable, and high-performance systems used by millions of users worldwide.

We are looking for a product-minded engineer who understands architecture, performance, security, integrations, code quality, and modern AI-assisted development workflows.

About the Project

You will be part of a long-term international product development team building and improving large-scale web products in the hosting and infrastructure-related domain.

The product requires reliable backend systems, clean frontend architecture, scalable APIs, high performance, strong security practices, and maintainable engineering solutions.

You will be involved in the full product life cycle: from technical analysis and architecture discussions to implementation, code review, testing, release, production support, and continuous improvement.

Mission of the Role

The main mission of this role is to help the team build, evolve, and maintain scalable product features and engineering solutions with strong focus on architecture, performance, security, maintainability, and product impact.

We are looking for an engineer who can not only implement tasks, but also understand business goals, evaluate technical trade-offs, challenge weak solutions, propose better approaches, support engineering standards, and help the team deliver high-quality software faster.

Goals for the First 6 Months

• Understand the product architecture, business logic, development workflow, and key technical challenges.
• Take ownership of one or more backend / frontend product areas.
• Contribute to the design and development of scalable REST APIs and product integrations.
• Improve code quality through refactoring, testing, code review, and technical documentation.
• Participate in architecture and design reviews for new features and system improvements.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, technical debt, security risks, and maintainability issues.
• Support less experienced engineers through mentoring, code review, and technical guidance.
• Actively use modern AI tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools to improve development speed and quality.

Goals for 6−12 Months

• Become one of the key technical contributors in the engineering team.
• Own complex features from architecture and implementation to testing, release, and production support.
• Help standardize best practices for backend, frontend, testing, code review, documentation, and AI-assisted development.
• Improve product reliability, observability, scalability, performance, and security.
• Contribute to long-term technical planning and product development strategy.
• Help reduce technical debt and improve maintainability of the codebase.
• Mentor engineers and raise the overall technical level of the team.
• Participate in building internal tools, automation, or AI-assisted workflows that improve engineering productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production-ready full stack web applications.
• Design, build, and support scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Develop frontend features using modern JavaScript / TypeScript and frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue.js, or similar.
• Design and implement REST APIs with clear contracts, versioning, error handling, backward compatibility, and maintainability in mind.
• Design and implement integrations with third-party services and internal systems.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL data storages, including schema design, complex queries, indexes, transactions, and performance optimization.
• Participate in project design reviews and architecture discussions.
• Conduct code reviews and help maintain high engineering standards.
• Analyze implementation complexity, estimate development efforts, and identify technical risks and blockers.
• Act as a technical mentor for less experienced team members.
• Report task status, technical risks, blockers, and implementation concerns to the project manager or technical leadership.
• Participate in the full product development life cycle.
• Write and maintain unit, integration, and e2e tests.
• Support application performance analysis and optimization.
• Apply secure development practices and consider Web Security principles when designing and implementing features.
• Work with Docker-based development and deployment environments.
• Use AI tools to speed up development, improve code quality, support debugging, generate documentation, analyze architecture options, and automate routine engineering tasks.

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of commercial experience as a Full Stack Developer / Full Stack Engineer.
• Strong experience with JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Deep knowledge of Node.js and practical experience building production-ready backend applications.
• Experience with backend frameworks such as NestJS, Express.js, or similar.
• Strong experience with at least one modern frontend framework: React, Next.js, Vue.js, or similar.
• Strong understanding of frontend and backend engineering principles.
• Good understanding of backend architecture and scalable application design.
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs.
• Understanding of API design, versioning, error handling, backward compatibility, and integration patterns.
• Practical experience designing and implementing integrations with external services and APIs.
• Good knowledge of SQL:
  • database schema design;
  • complex queries;
  • indexes;
  • transactions;
  • query optimization;
  • understanding of performance-related database issues.
• Experience working with NoSQL databases will be a plus.
• Strong understanding of SOLID principles, separation of concerns, and common architectural patterns.
• Experience with code performance analysis and optimization.
• Experience writing and maintaining unit, integration, and e2e tests.
• Understanding of application testing strategy.
• Understanding of Web Security principles, including OWASP Top 10.
• Experience with authentication and authorization mechanisms:
  • JWT;
  • access / refresh tokens;
  • OAuth 2.0;
  • role-based access control.
• Experience with Docker and understanding of containerization.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD processes.
• Ability to make independent technical decisions and explain architectural or technology choices.
• Experience conducting code reviews and supporting code quality.
• Good written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

AI Engineering & Developer Productivity

• Practical experience using AI tools for software development, such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar.
• Understanding of how to use AI tools for coding, debugging, refactoring, documentation, test generation, and technical research.
• Good prompt engineering skills and ability to work effectively with LLMs.
• Interest in AI-assisted development, internal automation, and engineering productivity.
• Practical experience integrating LLM APIs into applications will be a strong advantage.
• Understanding of MCP — Model Context Protocol — and possible scenarios of its use will be a plus.
• Understanding of AI agents, tools, RAG, and LLM integration patterns will be a plus.

Will Be a Plus

• Experience with React, Next.js, Vue.js, Redux, Angular, or similar frontend technologies.
• Experience with Python, Java, .NET, PHP, Golang, or other backend technologies.
• Experience with virtualization technologies and microservices.
• Practical experience with Docker / Docker Compose.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar.
• Experience developing internal tools or automation solutions.
• Experience mentoring less experienced engineers.
