About the job

Build things. Solve problems. Get them into customers' hands.

About You

You’re smart, ambitious, curious, and driven to build things. You don’t need someone telling you what to do every hour. You bring ideas, take ownership, and follow through. You want to become exceptionally capable and maybe build a business of your own someday.

The Opportunity

Help build Druid, a software platform for martial arts schools. Work directly with the founder, influence product and business decisions, and take projects from rough ideas to real solutions used by customers.

This is an early-stage, founder-funded startup with serious long-term ambitions. You’ll have direct access to the person building it, not six layers of management.

What You’ll Do

  • Find out what martial arts school owners actually need through customer research and conversations.
  • Develop ideas, build prototypes, and ship features.
  • Use AI coding tools, run experiments, test solutions, and improve the product.
  • Help with product strategy, marketing, customer acquisition, sales, and growth.
  • Take projects from initial idea to finished result.

The goal isn’t to write code. It’s to solve problems and deliver results.

What Makes You a Good Fit

  • You take initiative. You bring ideas and carry them through.
  • You follow through. If you commit to something, you get it done.
  • You think independently. You can challenge an idea with sound reasoning and accept good criticism.
  • You stay constructive. When something fails, you investigate, learn, and try another approach.
  • You listen and communicate well. You understand problems before proposing solutions and explain your thinking clearly.
  • You’re intellectually curious. You enjoy learning, exploring ideas, and figuring things out.
  • You have discipline. Sports, martial arts, or other demanding pursuits have taught you to keep showing up.

A BJJ blue belt or higher is a strong plus. So is an interest in philosophy, entrepreneurship, or building your own business.

You don’t need a traditional computer science background. You don’t even need to be a strong programmer yet. If you can think, learn, and execute, we’ll teach you to code. Your projects can be entirely vibe-coded to start.

What You’ll Learn

Product development, software engineering, AI-assisted coding, customer research, marketing, sales, and business operations. You’ll learn by doing real work with real customers.

The goal is to make you more capable, more independent, and better equipped to build something of your own.

Who You’ll Work With

The founder previously ran a software agency building products for early-stage startups. Druid brings that experience to a business built around helping martial arts schools succeed. The founder is personally financing the venture and is committed to building it for the long term, with experienced collaborators available when needed.

You’ll work directly with the founder and help shape the business from an early stage.

How We Work

We value truth, initiative, discipline, clear thinking, and a constructive attitude. Mistakes happen. Repeating the same mistake without learning is a different story.

You should be comfortable working asynchronously, making progress without constant supervision, and explaining your reasoning. If you understand the mission, don’t sit around waiting for permission to take the next step.

Hiring Process

  1. Interview: One substantive conversation, lasting 45 minutes to two hours.
  2. Take-home project: A challenging practical task designed to assess how you think and execute. Expect a few hours of work per day, over no more than two days.
  3. Decision: A clear yes or no.

If we both move quickly, the process can be completed in about a week.
