Mehad (ex-UOSSM France) is a French health International NGO created in 2011 in the framework of the response to the Syrian crisis. Mehad operates in Syria and Ukraine, through its headquarters based in Paris and its 3 representative offices in Gaziantep (Turkey), Erbil (Iraq) and Lviv (Ukraine). Mehad’s programs are organized around different areas: hospital management, access to health care (primary, community, maternal & infantile), training of health personnel, mental health, protection, secondary and tertiary health, nutrition.

In Ukraine, since August 2022, Mehad provides Ukrainian medical staff with training in the various aspects of damage control to save as many lives as possible during the conflict and begin the physical and mental reconstruction of the Ukrainian people. These training courses are given to specialists (surgical damage control) and non-specialists (psychological damage control, ultra-portable ultrasound, etc.), and will enable new response units to be set up in the event of a chemical or nuclear attack.

The projects objectives are to enhance the emergency response capabilities of healthcare workers by equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge in managing critical situations but also to support the establishment of chemical, biological, and nuclear risk response units in Ukrainian hospitals.
