PET PROJECTS:

WATCHES STORE
Environment: Next.js 14 (App Router), React 18, TypeScript, Zustand, Tailwind CSS, Firebase Firestore,
Swiper, ESLint, Vercel, CI/CD, Git.
Project Description: An e-commerce storefront for a watch retailer built with Next.js and deployed on
Vercel. Product catalog, category tree and store configuration are managed in Firebase Firestore, so
navigation, filters, sorting and home page content are driven by data rather than hard-coded in the
application.
Links: github.com/Roman-Khilevych/Watches | watches-five-ruddy.vercel.app
Implementation:
• Designed the application architecture on the Next.js App Router: server components for data fetching
and SEO metadata (generateMetadata for home, category and product pages), client components only
for interactive parts;
• Implemented dynamic routing for nested categories (catch-all routes) and product pages by SKU,
configurable breadcrumbs and custom 404 / error pages;
• Built the category page with layered navigation: attribute filters (brand, case size, glass material,
movement) and price ranges with product counts, active filter chips, sorting and grid view switch, all
configurable from the store config in Firestore;
• Developed custom hooks (useFilterAndSortProducts, useRecentlyViewed) and Zustand stores for
products, categories and configuration; recently viewed products are persisted in localStorage;
• Built the home page with a config-driven banner and New / On Sale / Recently Viewed product
sliders, and a component library: responsive header with desktop mega-menu and mobile slide-out
menu, side modal for filters, product gallery on Swiper with accessibility module, typed UI primitives
on design tokens (colors, typography) defined in the Tailwind config;
• Defined TypeScript models for products, categories, filters and config, with strict typing and ESLint
across the project. Render optimization with useMemo/useCallback, image optimization with
next/image and font loading with next/font;

LIVEART — IMAGE EDITOR
Environment: Vue 3 (Composition API), TypeScript, Vuetify 3, Pinia, vue-i18n, Cropper.js, Canvas API,
Vite, ESLint, Prettier, Git.
Project Description: A browser-based non-destructive image editor. The user uploads an image, crops it,
adjusts brightness, contrast and saturation with a real-time preview, applies filter presets and exports the
result as a lossless PNG or as a replayable JSON recipe of operations; the original image is never
modified.
Links: github.com/Roman-Khilevych/image-editor
Implementation:
• Designed the edit model as data rather than pixels: an immutable source image plus a typed,
serializable list of operations (crop, adjust, filter) rendered through a fixed pipeline, which gives
deterministic results and a one-click reset;
• Implemented two renderers from a single source of truth: CSS filters for a GPU-accelerated live
preview and an offscreen canvas for export, both built from the same filter string so the preview
always matches the exported image;
• Built the crop tool as a dialog on Cropper.js with the crop rectangle stored in original image
coordinates, so a re-crop replaces the previous one and the preview base is re-rendered on canvas
only when the crop changes;
• Implemented filter presets (grayscale, sepia) defined once as a const array with the union type derived
from it, export of the result as a lossless PNG through canvas.toBlob and of the edit recipe as a
versioned JSON document (discriminated union of operations), plus hold-to-compare with the
original;
• Built the state layer on a single Pinia store with a composable for blob URL lifecycle, error handling
that exposes errors as i18n keys and rolls the state back on broken files;
• Set up the UI on Vuetify 3 with custom light/dark themes, keyboard-accessible controls and all
strings externalized via vue-i18n; strict TypeScript with vue-tsc type-check, ESLint and Prettier in
the build;
