Serve as a business advisor able to manage the day to day activity of channel broadcasting and recognize upcoming challenges, possibilities and recommend courses of action that will enable technical teams to achieve their objectives. Mentor junior technical staff and independently lead department initiatives. Independently represent technical department at high-level meetings and conferences.
• Coordinate the efforts of all technical operators during newscasts and other live and recorded productions.
• Supervise and assigns duties to more than 50 subordinates engaged in technical control and production of programs.
• Observe pictures through monitors and directs camera/video staff concerning composition.
• Act as a liaison between engineering and production departments.
• Work with the news producers to deliver a clean and high energy newscast.
• Train camera and CG operators on the proper operation during live broadcasts.
• Switch video sources and given direction at the same time during live broadcasts.
• Test equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Communicate effectively with news/sports/entertainment producers, graphic artists,
engineering staff, and all Production staff, to prepare and execute technically clean
productions.
• Provide leadership for production prep and execution.
• React in calm and effective manor to fast-paced, ‘live’ television environment
• Apply technical expertise and creative style to create interesting productions within accepted
guidelines and standards.
• Ability to operate other production equipment and tasks, such as camera operation, audio operation, floor directing, and other duties as assigned.
• Provide advice during the design phase of activities.
• Ability to negotiate and sign contracts with multiple vendors and supply providers.
• Develop and writes grant proposals.
• Negotiate/discusses price and/or individual costs and technical requirements with prospectivevendors to ensure that the price of the contract is fair and reasonable.
