Join Our Team: Remote Paralegal / Legal Assistant at a U.S. Immigration Law Firm

We are a U.S. immigration law firm, and we’re looking for an experienced Paralegal / Legal Assistant (5 years of experience) to join our team fully remotely. What you’ll be doing:

  • Assisting the attorney with drafting and filing motions, legal briefs, and supporting documentation for cases in Immigration Court (EOIR) and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA);
  • Preparing and filing immigration petitions and applications (such as I-589, I-130, I-485, I-140, I-765, etc.) and relevant supporting documentation with EOIR and USCIS, ensuring accuracy and completeness;
  • Assisting the attorney in preparing and submitting Requests for Parole, Responses to Requests for Evidence (RFE), letters to ICE officers, and other evidence packets (for asylum, cancellation, or bond matters);
  • Communicating and collaborating with Russian, Ukrainian-speaking clients and government agencies (EOIR, USCIS, ICE) to ensure the timely processing of cases;
  • Helping clients draft supporting declarations and witness affidavits;
  • Drafting and preparing legal documents such as motions, legal briefs, and legal correspondence under attorney supervision;
  • Conducting legal research using statutes, regulations, case law, and other legal sources (such as Westlaw, Casetext, and LexisNexis);
  • Coordinating the attorney’s calendar, monitoring and managing court deadlines, case submissions, and legal proceedings, ensuring compliance with deadlines and procedural rules;
  • Maintaining and organizing legal documents, detailed case records, and client files;
  • Communicating with court personnel by phone and email to obtain information about case status, filing requirements, and hearing schedules.

What we’re looking for:

  • Associate degree in Law or a related field (Bachelor's or Master’s degree preferred);
  • Attorney license if you are based outside the U.S. (preferred, but not required);
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, with solid legal drafting and document review skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Professional phone etiquette and strong interpersonal skills.

It’s a big plus if you have:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills;
  • Experience in a law firm or legal environment;
  • Project management skills.
