Daniel Richardson

Date of Birth: April 25, 1984

History -

January 2020 – Present

I moved to Ukraine to start a career in writing fiction. I am currently still working on two novels and two web serial fictions. I do however crave a more structured work environment and that is my reason for seeking other avenues of employment.

I have met many wonderful people throughout Ukraine and a common request (of which I am more than happy to oblige) is to help with English pronunciation and/or sentence structure.

2018 – 2019

In November of 2018 I moved back to Spokane, WA and found work with the Spokane Mass Transit Authority and began an apprenticeship as a heavy diesel mechanic. I washed city buses, ran basic diagnostics, changed tires, changed fluids, and did anything that was needed all the while learning how to do more involved repairs.

2018

One day in January of 2018 I got a call from my sister who told me my mothers cancer had gotten worse and she didn’t know what to do. I quit my job and spent most of the year taking care of my mom but ultimately she lost her fight and the cancer won. I spent a few months after helping my sister repair and make her house presentable for sale.

2012 – 2017

I decided to move to Spokane, Wa and quickly found work at Eastern State Hospital, a maximum security locked in mental health hospital. This was an incredibly chaotic and intense work environment but I took to it well. Soon I was certified to train new hires, which happened often as the 1 month turnover rate was around 85% (it is certainly not a job for everyone, violence was a daily occurrence.) I was also EPRT (Emergency Patient Response Team) certified in my first year of working there though thankfully we had no hostage situations during my time there.

2007 – 2012

Budget cuts to the fire service made stations in the area freeze all hiring so I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. I completed basic training and MCT in my hometown of San Diego, then went to my MOS school in Arlington, Virginia to become a 0231 Intelligence Specialist. I served 2 tours in Iraq and 2 tours in Afganistan. During a deployment I re-injured my back which I had previously broken at age 13 and was offered a 0% disability medical discharge which I decided to take.

2006 – 2007

During this time I attended community college in their fire fighting program and worked part time night stocking at a Target retail store and volunteering with the fire service.

2003 – 2005

I worked for a construction company called Irish Construction. We worked exclusively with the telephone and communications company “Pacfic Bell”. Our primary role was underground construction to create viable conduits to be used for telephone cable. We also did repairs, work on new housing projects, cable location, and duct verification. I made foreman after 6 months and after 12 I was our second ever certified cable locator.

2001 - 2003

While attending High School I started working in shipping and receiving for a small company my mom worked for. Once I had been working there for 6 months I became the shipping and receiving training officer and would train the new hires or temporary employees when they would start.
