Objective: I am seeking full-time work in the IT field wherever fluent English is a necessary skill. I am from the United States, but have lived in Kyiv since the 16th of March, 2022 performing volunteer humanitarian aid in Ukraine while learning Ukrainian. I am still open to teaching English, and will consider offers, but am looking to move into a different field now.

Skills: I am a native English speaker, with more than one year of experience teaching. I have strong communication and teamwork abilities from my background in activism and volunteering. While I don’t as of yet have any specialization or certification in tech, I have been good with computers my entire life and am a very fast learner eager to master whatever is expected of me. I will do whatever it takes. I speak, read, and write B1 level Ukrainian, and am currently studying at the B2 level, so I can communicate basically in Ukrainian as well.

Working offline, I help kids as young as 2 and all the way up to 13 years old learn english through a variety of activities such as songs, arts & crafts, story time, speaking clubs, science projects etc. I also work teaching english language arts and literacy to both 3rd and 4th grade children. It is a challenging but extremely rewarding experience to teach kids.

I worked as an english teacher with this online company for more than a year. I created group lessons and speaking clubs about topics ranging from everyday life, to deep psychological and philosophical topics. In conducting these lessons, I taught adult students new key vocabulary, increase their confidence, and explore a vast range of new concepts.

I have been working with this volunteer organization since I first arrived in Ukraine. My role as a volunteer is to help provide expertise on medical and military gear (excluding weapons) to procure and then send to people fighting on the frontline against the invasion. I also help edit communications that are in English (translated from Ukrainian) so that the English text is better. I’ve also helped teach civilians proper and safe handling of weapons so that they know in case they ever have to fight. Eventually, I focused more on international outreach and answering emails, until I eventually decided to pause my work with the intiative. Operation Solidarity’s mission is to support people fighting against the invasion through harnessing international solidarity, but also to help procure precious medications, and assist refugees.
