The International Training and Education Center on HIV (I-TECH), based in Seattle at the University of Washington, was established in 2002 by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) in collaboration with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Global AIDS Program (CDC-GAP). I-TECH undertakes activities that increase human and systems capacity for provision of HIV/AIDS clinical care and support under the financial support provided by as part of The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

I-TECH has been working in Ukraine since 2011. Its current partnerships include those with the State Institution «Ukrainian Center for Socially Dangerous Disease Control of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine» (UCDC) and the Ukrainian Family Medicine Training Center of the Bogomolets National Medical University (UFMTC of the NMU) with the primary goal to improve the capacity of health care workers to address the challenges of care and treatment of HIV and related illnesses through activities such as needs assessments, curriculum development, in-service and pre-service training, training of trainers, clinical mentoring, training program monitoring and evaluation, organizational capacity strengthening of clinical and training facilities, additional technical support on the issues of care and treatment to HIV-positive patients in Ukraine.
