1.Adheres to policies, guidelines, plans and programs.
2.Performs all elective and emergency cases (general surgery, OBYGYN, trauma etc.).
3.Assumes direct responsibility for the postoperative and emergency patients under his attendance in the assigned unit.
4.Conducts pre- and postoperative rounds and supervision of treatment of the patients.
5.Undertakes supervisory responsibility for the medical staff and prepares regular reports on the activities of the unit for the Medical Director.
6.Participates in the assessment and updating of drug, medical supply and equipment needs.
7.Writes, completes and approves medical records and reports for patients.
8.Participates in the planning and follow up of the medical education and research activities.
As a Consultant in Anaesthesiology, my annual caseload averages 1,000 anaesthetic procedures and more 500 patients with critical condition. I make a decision on the best method to anaesthetize and sedate the patient. I review the patient's medical records and history to determine any issues that might be encountered during the procedure. I administer all types of anaesthesia (local, regional, conscious sedation, general). I provide Rapid Sequence Induction and Endotracheal Intubation for various types of surgery including severe Trauma, emergency and elective surgical procedure and on all type of patients (paediatric, adult, geriatric).
My primary responsibility also includes monitoring the patient's homeostasis during surgeries. I measure the volume the patient inhales and the carbon dioxide level exhaled, as well as, monitor cardiac pressure-volume loop, nerve functions, and the pulmonary blood pressure. During surgery, I am in control of all IV fluids and medications pre- and postoperatively.
