Management Specialist

Project Management: 2003 - 2015
As head of programme development for the US based National Democratic Institute (NDI), I developed
a new Country Programme for Sri Lanka, and secured funds for the same. As Head of Programmes for the
British High Commission in Colombo, I setup a five-year funding programme for Sri Lanka and the
Maldives.

Country Representative - US based Internews: 2013-2014
The initiative focused on strengthening the integrity of news and reporting by building the capacity of
journalists in investigative journalism. The programme also emphasized the role of journalism as a medium
for local community engagement and the use of digital technologies in news and reporting. As Country
Representative, it was my responsibility to rollout this programme in Sri Lanka.

Director: Policy in Action: 2012 - 2015
Founded Policy in Action as a voluntary organisation to fight against sexual abuse of children. Starting with
social media outreach I catalysed support from several thousand members and organisations such as the
Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms, Department of Probation and Child Care Services and the
National Child Protection Authority (NCPA). The programme helped child victims to be better prepared
for their day in Court and brought awareness of systemic issues to public forums.

Board Member: US based - So Others May See (SOMS): 2012 - 2014
SOMS is a US based 501(c)(3) with a mission to prevent avoidable blindness in Sri Lanka. The Board guided
SOMS from its inception in Sri Lanka to a multi-million budget programme with activities in every part of
the Country, reaching over a million people.

Advisor - Verité Research: 2012 - 2013
Verité Research is an interdisciplinary think tank that provides strategic analysis and advice to governments,
international organisations and the private sector in Sri Lanka and Asia. As Advisor, I provided input on
programme design and implementation in areas of media analysis, engagement with Sri Lankan political
parties, funding proposals and grants.

Advisor - University of Salford (UK): 2012
Advised Salford on matters relating to the sustainability of reconstruction and development of the Northern
and Eastern districts of Sri Lanka and overall project management with an emphasis of disaster
preparedness, resilience and disability friendly infrastructure construction in Sri Lanka.

Head of Programmes to Sri Lanka & the Maldives: British High Commission, Colombo: 2011
Overall responsibility to ensure that British government funds were effectively deployed in support of local
priorities and the UK’s development policies for Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The funding portfolio
included Conflict Prevention, Bilateral Funds and the Human Rights Fund. My responsibilities included
calling for proposals, awarding grants to local and international development organizations and monitoring
implementation.

Head of Research: The National Peace Council of Sri Lanka: 2003 - 2006
Ran point on the NPC five-year Strategic Plan, on its development and implementation. Reported to the
Executive Director on the progress of the Plan, and prepared reports for NPC’s framework funding donors
– NORAD and Sida. Developed project proposals and budgets for conflict transformation initiatives and
reported to donors on selected projects. Implemented the Peace Tables projected in several provinces and
managed a national level EU funded gender project for an interim period of one year.

Financial Advisory: 2012 - 2018
Provided financial accounting support to several firms including a large eCommerce firm. More recently,
