Medical Billing Specialist

We are currently looking for an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our team on a flexible, project-based basis.

This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in U.S. medical billing who is looking for structured, flexible work that can complement their primary job. Experience in mental health billing is a strong advantage.

📌 About the Role

Please note that this is a project-based position.

You will be working on specific medical billing projects and assigned tasks rather than holding a permanent in-house position within one clinic. Workload may vary depending on active projects and operational needs.

This role is best suited for someone who:

• Is looking for flexible, supplemental income

• Is comfortable working independently

• Understands that this is not a guaranteed full-time position from the start

There is potential to increase hours and responsibilities after 2−3 months if the collaboration is successful for both sides.

🕒 Schedule

• Starting at approximately 8 hours per week

• Highly flexible schedule

• Possible formats:

  • One full working day (weekday or weekend), or

  • Divided hours throughout the week (even 1−2 hours per day)

• The schedule is agreed upon individually

Because of its flexibility, this role can work well as a side position alongside your main job.

📋 Initial Responsibilities

• Insurance eligibility and benefits verification

• Posting and applying insurance and patient payments

• Adjusting patient accounts

• Supporting claims processes

Based on performance and quality of work, responsibilities may expand over time.

🎓 Training & Onboarding

• Initial tasks are completed with guidance via Zoom

• Over time, more independent work is expected

We value accuracy, accountability, and clear communication.

💰 Compensation

Compensation is based on the number of hours worked.

If a monthly amount is discussed, it refers to a full-time equivalent workload.

🎯 Candidate Requirements

We are considering only candidates with real, practical experience in U.S. medical billing, either remotely or working directly with U.S. medical offices.

You must have hands-on experience with:

• Insurance claims submission

• Claims follow-up

• Appeals

• Eligibility and benefits verification

• Payment posting

• Account adjustments

Candidates without direct experience in these areas will not be considered.

Additional qualifications:

• Experience in mental health billing is a strong plus

• Comfortable working with billing systems and financial data

• Experience with systems such as Valant, MDLand, Kareo, Zocdoc, or CoverMyMeds is a strong advantage

• English level: B2+ or higher (required for working with documentation, insurance representatives, and billing systems)

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
