Junior Backend Developer (Python)

We are a fintech startup working at the intersection of workflow automation, AI agents, and analytical modeling. We are looking for a Junior Backend Developer (or a student with hands-on experience) to join us as an independent contractor / freelancer on a remote, part-time, flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend logic using Python.
• Write clean, well-documented code (this is a must).
• Assist with workflow automation, including the use of AI agents and Python scripts.
• Support the development of mathematical and analytical models in Python.
• Help identify and implement system integration solutions to support website backend operations.
• Provide limited administrative support, including:
  • automation of expense reporting workflows;
  • partial manual checks until full automation is achieved.

Requirements

• Solid foundational knowledge of Python and clean coding practices.
• Basic understanding of backend systems and scalable application design.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher — mandatory.
• Willingness to continuously learn new tools and systems, especially as the OpenAI / OpenLM ecosystem evolves.
• Ability to work independently and responsibly in a startup environment.

Nice to have

• Junior developers or students with real project or internship experience.
• Interest in AI, automation, fintech, or quantitative/analytical work.
• Motivation to grow with the company and take on increasing responsibility over time.
