Division of «Polish Humanitarian Action» in Ukraine (PAH) is currently looking for Security Officer to support implementation of the projects.

- Duration: 12 month contract (3 month of approbation period) with possibility for extension
About PAH:
Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is an international non-governmental organization which since 1992 has been providing humanitarian and development help worldwide. So far, the interventions have been carried out in 46 different countries. By possessing long-standing expertise in the implementation of projects in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Food Security and Livelihoods, as well as Nutrition and Education, PAH concentrates its global activities on ensuring sustainable and stable development of regions suffering from the consequences of armed conflicts, natural disasters and other humanitarian crises.
PAH has been present in Ukraine since August 2014 delivering humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable of the conflict-affected population. PAH provides assistance to internally displaced people, elderly and single mothers, working in the sectors of food security protection and livelihoods. PAH Ukraine is currently expanding programming from humanitarian to both early recovery and development-oriented interventions that provide sustainable livelihoods opportunities to the affected population.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and analysing threats and assessing the risks present in the projects, timely informing staff on potential threats, when needed — altering the routes to avoid danger;
- Assist the Security Coordinator and Area Manager in drafting and updating of security plans and procedures for all aspects of the country office activity.
- Advising the Area Manager and Security Coordinator on security issues, including the budget allocated for security issues.
- Briefing, training, drilling, motivating and supervising personnel in terms of their implementation and observance of security procedures, and advising the personnel on issues connected with safe conduct in the area of the mission.
- Maintaining contact on security issues with players operating in the area of the mission — other NGOs, local security structures, CIMIC, the UN, and others; Attending all the regular security-related meetings.
- Gather security information for the area, verify the information and use this information in daily operations to mitigate risks for the staff.
- Supervising the functioning of technical systems for facilities protection, communication systems, means of transport.
- Advice the Fleet officer in planning fleet movement with security related issues, ensure the plan is followed and informed by the incumbent authorities; Manage the daily security check. Inform and answer of any immediate security threat in coordination with the Security Coordinator.
- Ensuring security equipment (tools) supplies are sufficient and in place.
- Organizing and co-supervising the work of personnel whose actions directly affect security, especially drivers in the area.
- Regular reporting to Security Coordinator and Area Manager.
- Sharing security knowledge and experience with the staff.
- Controlling that all staff are adhering to the relevant Safety & Security rules.
- Assisting and when necessary — escorting the mission guests in the field.
- Performing any other tasks as assigned by the Area Manager and Security Coordinator, the Security officer can be given tasks related to logistics supports and or liaising tasks when needed.
Security Officer will be selected based on the qualification requirements described below:
Required Qualifications & Experience
- University degree with appropriate experience in security management, risk assessment, or field security.
- Ability to monitor threats, analyze risks, and brief staff.
- Experience implementing security procedures and supporting movement planning.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with authorities, NGOs, and partners.
- Good reporting skills; able to gather and verify security information.
- Fluency in English (B2).
Desirable Qualifications
- · Experience in conflict or high‑risk environments
- · experience in security risk management, preferably with NGOs or humanitarian organizations.
- Training in area of Security Risk Management
- Knowledge of local security structures and context.
- Experience supervising drivers or supporting logistics/liaison tasks.
- Ability to train staff and promote security awareness.
