Export Documentation Team Leader

The Export Team Leader oversees the full export documentation process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely issuance of shipping documents. This role leads a team of documentation specialists, coordinates with internal and external partners, and supports the smooth execution of export operations. By maintaining high service standards and regulatory compliance, the Team Leader contributes directly to MSC’s operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

• Lead and support the Export Documentation team, ensuring timely and accurate document preparation.
• Coordinate workloads, maintain efficient workflows, and develop team performance.

Export Documentation Management

• Oversee export manifests, bills of lading, VGM compliance, and special cargo documentation.
• Ensure accuracy of party data and compliance with MSC procedures, customs, port, and regulatory requirements.

Compliance & Risk Control

• Maintain adherence to international shipping standards, local regulations, sanctions compliance, and SOLAS requirements.
• Identify and mitigate documentation and compliance risks.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with customer service, operations, sales, finance, and IT to ensure smooth export processes and data accuracy.

Process Improvement & Reporting

• Drive documentation process improvements and digital efficiency.
• Prepare regular departmental reports and key documentation performance indicators.

Requirements

Education

• Master’s degree in Logistics, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Professional certifications in export, customs, or supply chain are an advantage.

Experience

• 3−5 years in export or shipping operations.
• At least 1 year in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
• Hands‑on experience with export documentation, customs processes, and international regulations.

Knowledge

• Strong understanding of export documentation, INCOTERMS, customs rules, SOLAS/VGM, and hazardous cargo handling.
• Familiarity with port authority requirements, party data accuracy, sanctions compliance, and bills of lading.
• Experience with logistics platforms.
• Upper‑Intermediate English or higher (additional languages are a plus).
• Eligible for local employment in Ukraine
