Dockside Internet (then ITI Technology Holdings), internet corporate access

Division Director, corporate access division

Dockside Internet was an internet access provider company with branches in Johannesburg
and London, providing internet based solutions and services like: access, web development,
software integration, online marketing, etc. I was in charge of internet access division looking
after corporate clients. The company was employing 35 people and had 3 divisions in total:
dial up, web development and online marketing and corporate access. I was managing the
division, reporting to the CEO and was part of executive committee and board of directors
from 1998-2000. From budgeting, forecasting, delivering, I was in charge of marketing of my
own department. I had 3 people reporting to me – 2 sales and 1 personal assistant, with every
sales person having their own targets and minimum sales to achieve. Dockside Internet was
sold to the JSE listed IT national company – ITI Technology Holdings in early 2000.

Accomplishments:
- Managed the department, growing it from 1 to 4 staff members, increasing turnover of
the department by 487% in 1998, 398% in 1999 and 401% in 2000;
- Forged strategic relationships with dealers, computer companies, 3d party vendors
valued at R 1 000 000 per year;
- Designed and implemented automated marketing monthly campaigns resulting in free
advertisement to the value of R 600 000 per annum, published internet based articles
and review of various latest technologies like VPN, VoIP, etc. Copies are available from

Gem Internet was a multi national internet access provider company with branches in
Johannesburg and Durban, and was a leader and one of the first ISP’s in South Africa. Gem
Internet products included dial up’s (over 5500 at that time), hosting, analog and diginet
leased lines, and co-location services. I was in charge of internet sales division looking after all
corporate and SME clients in Cape Town. The company was employing 42 people and I was
reporting to the MD. Sales turnover grew by almost 250% each year, increasing the number
of corporate clients by 45% to 100 in total. Most of them were analog and diginet leased line
clients.

Accomplishments:
- Managed the department on my own increasing sales by growing the revenue from
new and existing clients;
- Forged strategic relationships with dealers, computer companies, 3d party vendors
providing them with dial up kits, support and distribution rights in their own areas;
- Signed the deal with many companies like Computer Networks, Incredible Connection,
Computer Mania to distribute Gem Internet dial up kits to the consumer and business
markets, as well as providing their corporate clients with internet access;
- Project managed all sales and installations of my clients, supervised technical team;
- Signed an attractive VPN network deal for Syscon International, valued at over R 300
000 per annum;
