Leading separate division of transport in 3PL brokerage, with intense focus on Drayage shipments and LTL, Rail D2D shipments, warehousing/cross dock, barge services and other smaller modes.
Responsible for overseeing $8 Millions Drayage Portfolio and continuous development of the team. Bringing it from 3 people to 12 real professionals under my supervision and mentorship.
Being an autonomous part of the company, it was my duty to guarantee 100% execution of all tasks and ensure smooth and uninterrupted growth.
Combining my experience and leadership with modern tools, our department was showing stable results even despite Outside impacts to the market. Taking proactive measures alongside mitigating potential risks was key to prevent any fallout and ensure smooth service to our clients.
That was also a result of dedicated focus to team development. By investing time and effort into cross-training, highly detailed SOPs, regular Performance Boost one-to-one training, I can say with certain that people under my supervision knew what was needed to achieve maximum performance. With an average age of 30, each of them already was highly experienced and professional. Every person had the role assigned based on their strongest qualities. Building up trust and transparency is key.
To enhance the performance of our department and company overall, I was taking active participation in tailoring our TMS. Bringing valuable feedback from both team and personal perspectives. Besides our main TMS, we were working closely with a few other outsource partners, who were providing us with important data and reports.
Part of my work, especially at the beginning of this position, was crisis management and solving ongoing issues. With my deep knowledge of day-to-day operations, I was able to eliminate most of the immediate threats and prune future high-risk issues.
Our Customers ranged from smaller industries and to Freight giants.
Despite the scale of the given customer, it was important not only to follow exact SLA and KPI, but to know some insights and be able to be very proactive to solve the issue before it could even happen, providing the best service for them.
Short list of duties:
Meeting Yearly/Quarterly financial goals. Balancing with Revenue, Net Revenue and Load amount to ensure best outcome without spending extra resources.
Guarantying projected growth of the department in terms of people and revenue.
Achieving Customers` satisfaction and ensuring long-term partnerships.
Building up relations with carriers as well, to benefit from secured rates and reliable deliveries.
Assisting a dedicated Customer Sales team to secure more clients, specifically Drayage ones.
Planning and performing team training. Developing personal plans for especially promising individuals.
Working on preventing any possible issues or financial “bleeding”.
Reviewing all logistics legs, to make sure that all RRD(required delivery date) and cut offs are met.

Drayage Team Manager

As clients` Drayage needs were continuously growing; Everest focus shifted towards servicing it as a primary task for our team. Most of the cargo at the time was ordered by customers that handled different Chemical plants. As a result, 80% of our volume consisted of 20` OW HazMat containers.

Substituting role in case somebody is absent.
Reviewing SDS and DOs for hazmat loads.

Intermodal team representative

I was offered a position in a newly formed team. Focused on Rail and LTL/Patrial shipments. Shortly extended to Drayage as well. Day to day control of D2D Rail shipments was our main objective. However, we quickly started providing LTL service not to just our biggest clients, but just as part of our general portfolio. Crucial points were coordinating pick-ups and drop-offs, classifying cargo, educating customers regarding NMFC codes and limits of each type of different truck that can be used for their DLV. Adjusting speed VS cost per shipment, consolidating all possible cargo.
In 2020 Drayage become standard service for our clients, starting with just one Export CA lane of 30 loads/month, we had prompt expansion to 200-250 loads per month.
