About the Role:

The Planner is one of the most critical and strategic roles within our operations team. Planners are responsible for designing optimized routes, coordinating driver schedules, negotiating with brokers and customers, and maximizing profitability while minimizing cost and inefficiencies. Planners act as the core operational link between Driver Managers, CSRs, and departments such as Sales, Billing, Safety, and the Shop. This role requires a combination of analytical skills, emotional intelligence, multitasking, and precision in decision-making.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Build optimized routes for assigned trucks and drivers
• Calculate earnings, rates, RPM, and projected expenses (fuel, tolls, trailer usage, etc.)
• Negotiate and book loads with brokers and customers based on operational needs
• Track available freight and market changes to align with company strategy
• Communicate load plans to Driver Managers, CSRs, and drivers
• Maintain accurate updates in the system for all loads and routes
• Coordinate between departments (Safety, Billing, Sales, Shop) to ensure smooth operations
• Provide backup options (Plan B / Plan C) for time-sensitive or high-risk loads
• Adjust plans in real-time due to delays, breakdowns, or cancellations
• Maintain consistent and professional communication with all stakeholders
