About the Role
Today’s SEO Strategist is no longer a keyword tactician. They are a brand advocate, a strategic counsellor, and an AI-era visibility architect — one whose recommendations directly influence revenue, brand perception, and cross-channel performance. At OneCoreMedia, we operate as a data-first digital agency, empowering our teams to innovate, experiment, and deploy strategies that hold up in both traditional search and emerging AI-driven discovery platforms.
Our SEO team sits at the centre of every client’s digital strategy. With specialists across Canada and Europe, we are growing fast and looking to add a Senior SEO & GEO Strategist to our Toronto team. This role goes well beyond conventional SEO. You will help clients build enduring search resilience across Google, AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and other answer engines — ensuring their brand is consistently visible, trustworthy, and coherently represented across every digital touchpoint.
What You Will Do
You will own and advance the organic search strategy for a portfolio of clients, balancing the rigour of technical execution with the clarity of strategic storytelling. Specific responsibilities include:
- • Developing and executing comprehensive SEO and GEO strategies tailored to each client’s competitive landscape, industry, and business objectives.
- • Identifying and capitalising on AI Overview and generative search opportunities through structured content formats, entity optimisation, schema markup, and answer-engine-ready information architecture.
- • Conducting deep technical SEO audits and translating findings into clear, prioritised action plans that development and content teams can implement without ambiguity.
- • Leading keyword and topic research, search intent modelling, and semantic clustering to inform content strategy and on-page optimisation at scale.
- • Performing competitive analysis across both traditional SERPs and AI-generated answer surfaces, surfacing gaps and opportunities with commercial impact.
- • Developing backlink acquisition strategies, evaluating link profiles, identifying risks, and managing digital PR and outreach initiatives.
- • Collaborating cross-functionally — contributing UX insights, CRO recommendations, and brand alignment guidance to ensure content is both search-optimised and AI-parsable.
- • Supporting the sales team with discovery insights, scope development, client education, and strategy pitches that articulate the value of modern search investment.
- • Delivering clear, executive-quality reporting that connects organic performance metrics to measurable business outcomes.
- • Remaining at the forefront of AI-driven search developments, contributing original thinking that sharpens the agency’s positioning and elevates client work.
What You Bring
Experience & Background
- • A minimum of five years of agency experience in organic search, with a demonstrable portfolio of ranking growth, traffic wins, and strategic client leadership.
- • Proven track record working across multiple verticals — including, but not limited to, Education, eCommerce, Financial Services, Healthcare, SaaS, or B2B — with the judgement to adapt strategy to varying levels of competition and audience sophistication.
- • Experience working to set schedules and deadlines in a client-facing environment; availability during standard EST business hours (9:00 AM — 5:00 PM) is a must.
- • Advanced English proficiency — written and verbal — with the ability to produce polished client-facing deliverables and engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
Technical & Strategic SEO
- • Deep understanding of how technical SEO, content quality, UX, brand signals, and earned media collectively influence traditional search and AI-driven discovery.
- • Solid technical SEO capabilities: you need not be an engineer, but you are fully conversant with HTML, schema markup, Core Web Vitals, crawl and index management, log file analysis, and structured data implementation.
- • Hands-on expertise in keyword and topic research, semantic clustering, and search intent modelling using tools such as GA4, GSC, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Surfer, Frase, or comparable platforms.
- • Demonstrated experience developing GEO strategies, including AI-friendly content architectures, structured FAQs, brand prominence signals, entity optimisation, and answer-engine-ready formatting.
- • Experience developing content, visual, and structural guidelines that support funnel progression, conversion goals, and meaningful calls to action.
Client Management & Communication
- • A natural communicator who can translate complex technical findings into concise, actionable recommendations for both implementation teams and C-level clients — without the jargon.
- • Comfortable managing multiple accounts simultaneously with minimal oversight, proactively identifying issues and communicating progress before clients ask.
- • Experience supporting new business development: scope creation, discovery sessions, pitch decks, and client education around modern search and AI visibility.

Our Tool Stack
Familiarity with the following platforms is an asset: Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Moz, BrightLocal, GA4, Google Search Console, Looker Studio, and HubSpot. Comfort with AI-assisted SEO workflows and prompt engineering is a strong differentiator.
