Ehvert Mission Critical, a business unit within Salas O’Brien, a US-based company is seeking an experienced independent contractor (self-employed professional) for a long-term contractual engagement. This role is not limited to a single project and involves ongoing collaboration based on business needs. You will provide services as an independent business entity under a formal independent contractor agreement. Role Summary:
Construction Project Accountant supports projects by overseeing job cost accounting, monitoring budgets, and ensuring financial data is accurate and up to date. The role involves preparing and reviewing financial reports, managing billings, and entering all project-related financial transactions into the accounting system. Working closely with project managers and internal teams, the role helps identify issues, provide financial insights, and support informed decision-making. Success in this role requires strong bookkeeping skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What we expect (requirements)
- English language, level B2 - upper intermediate or higher
- A bachelor’s/master's degree in accounting or a related field of study
- Minimum 3−4 years of experience working in similar or related position
- Advanced bookkeeping and accounting skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, etc)
- Knowledge of construction accounting and general construction processes is an asset
- Knows how to book monthly accounting entries and can read and understand Financials
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Online is an asset
- Understanding of GAAP Accounting is nice to have but not required
- Ability to work under time pressures
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to multitask, work independently, and effectively manage time
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
What will you do (responsibilities):
- Monitor project costs and budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring adherence to financial plans.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to provide accurate financial information to management.
- Ensures job cost reports and accounts receivable reports are accurate at all times and in balance with the general
- Provide information to appropriate people regarding project status (i.e. PFR, job cost reports to owners, etc.)
- Bring issues to the attention of Financial Services and the Project Manager for assistance and further evaluation.
- Enters all financial paperwork into the accounting system to ensure timely and accurate job cost information. This includes owner and sub change orders, owner billings, budget transfers, subcontractor pay requirements, payroll and A/P
- Collaborates with key people to process monthly billings to owners and runs projected final cost report.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks as may be required by this position.
