Job Summary

INSO is seeking a detail-driven Information Officer to join our HQ Data, Technology and Learning (DTL) team — the position is based in Kyiv, Ukraine. This role is the quality engine behind our Conflict & Humanitarian Data Centre (CHDC) and INSO Portal: catching errors, closing gaps, and keeping data trustworthy across 24 countries and a wide range of conflict and crisis contexts.

You’ll create and build reports, dashboards, and maintain global geodatabases. You’ll also help roll out INSO Visualisation Standards to different Country Offices and enforce the standards, which will improve readability and useability of INSO reports among the 1,500 partners.

Main responsibilities:

Manage the Conflict & Humanitarian Data Centre (CHDC)

  • Review incidents reported by Country Offices, from day-to-day coding fixes to systematic spot checks that catch bigger patterns and follow the suitable action.
  • Give new Country Offices extra attention to bring their data up to the highest standard.
  • Build and use tools that keep data quality monitoring sharp and scalable.
  • Deliver CHDC training, inductions, and coding sessions to teams and partners.

Support the INSO Portal, App & Platforms

  • Be the focal point contact for the INSO Portal, answering day-to-day questions from our Country Offices and partners.
  • Support training delivery and give close support to start-up Country Offices.
  • Monitor data quality in the Portal and escalate issues when needed.

Support and uphold INSO Visualisation Standards

  • Keep guidelines, documents, and templates for our Visualisation Standards clear and up to date.
  • Help Country Offices adopt the standards, building supporting tools along the way.
  • Automate ETL, dashboard, and mapping workflows to save time across all country offices.
  • Build and maintain ArcGIS templates, geodatabases, and layer repositories.

Coordinate & Support Globally

  • Work closely with the HQ Information Manager, coordinating on standards and updates, resolving issues together, and stepping in when needed.
  • Maintain the Information Management SharePoint site and respond to Helpdesk tickets.
  • Collect data and statistics on IM activities and maintain a historical record.
  • Contribute to onboarding, and wider DTL projects.

Requirements:

Essential

  • Full professional fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • 3+ years' experience in data management, data visualisation, or information management, ideally across multiple Country Offices or in a global support role.
  • Experience with Power BI and DAX, or similar BI software (e.g. Tableau).
  • Proficiency in database management using SQL.
  • Good GIS skills (QGIS or ArcGIS).
  • Sharp attention to detail, with an understanding of conflict-affected contexts.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Data Management, GIS, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or R.
  • Experience with humanitarian organisations, particularly NGOs in complex contexts.
  • Experience delivering training or capacity-building on data or IM tools.

Core Competencies

  • Attention to details — Ensures accuracy and quality by carefully reviewing data, reports, and processes.
  • Analytical Thinking — Interprets complex data with accuracy to support decision-making.
  • Leadership — Guides and develops team members through mentoring, clear direction, and effective delegation.
  • Collaboration — Fosters teamwork and shared goals across diverse groups.
  • Diplomacy — Builds trust and inclusion through empathy and listening.
  • Communication — Conveys information clearly and adapts to the audience.
  • Proactivity — Anticipates issues and suggests practical, forward-thinking solutions.
