Junior Security Officer

Mobile Justice Teams (MJTs) are groups of local and international experts, and practitioners collaborating with, and in support of, local justice actors, such as Ukraine’s Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG) and Regional Prosecutor Offices (RPOs), to advance Ukraine’s capacity to investigate and build complex command-level cases into international crimes through tailored support and the institutionalisation of international standards and best practices. The MJTs are organised across thematic areas to address context-specific and cross-cutting legal issues. The teams work in the most affected regions of Ukraine to provide advisory and case-building support, focusing on supporting prosecutors and investigators in their investigations and prosecutions.

We are looking for a Junior Security Officer to join our team in Ukraine. The Junior Security Officer supports in ensuring the safe and secure transportation of GRC team members while maintaining a high level of vigilance and professionalism.

Location: Kyiv, Ukraine

The Role

• Safely transport GRC personnel throughout Ukraine.
• Operate and maintain vehicles, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and readiness for use, including light maintenance, and managing servicing as required.
• Maintain a high level of situational awareness regarding road and security conditions.
• Adhere to all traffic regulations and at all times conduct safe and secure driving
• Communicate effectively with GRC personnel and the Security Team, providing updates on transportation status and potential security concerns.
• Assist in coordinating any logistical arrangements with car rental providers and accommodation providers.
• Be prepared to work night shifts for monitoring security situations in places of operation, and ensure effective communication to teams on the ground.
• Adhere to the GRC procedure for hand-over-take-over of rental vehicles and security equipment (Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs).
• Able to assist others in using PPE and IFAKs equipment.
• Perform first response/first aid to GRC personnel if required.
• Support and contribute to the ongoing development of the team’s work by identifying potential areas for future activity and collaboration, consistent with strategic priorities.
• Uphold strict confidentiality regarding organization information, travel itineraries, and security protocols.

Your Background

• 2 years working experience including prior experience in any protection or security-related roles.
• Valid B-class driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Knowledge and experience of the local security situations in different Ukrainian regions.
• Valid first aid training certificate.
• Knowledge of security equipment (PPE and IFAKs).
• Exceptional driving skills and understanding of light vehicle maintenance.
• Good knowledge and understanding of the security situation throughout Ukraine.
• Strong situational awareness and analytical ability to change plans according to the situation and respond to changing circumstances.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken skills.
