Environmental, Health, Safety Expert (EHS)

EPTISA Ukraine is looking for an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Expert to join our team and support the implementation and supervision of an international water infrastructure project in Ukraine.

Requirements

• University degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in environmental and occupational health and safety management.
• Demonstrated experience in managing occupational health and safety performance and implementing environmental management plans on infrastructure projects.
• Experience working on at least one international water-sector infrastructure contract is essential.
• Experience with water infrastructure projects such as water treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, water supply networks and related facilities will be highly valued.
• Experience working in accordance with the environmental and social requirements of International Financial Institutions (IFIs) such as EBRD, EIB, World Bank, IFC or similar is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge and practical experience with ESMP/EMP, E&S management, environmental monitoring, OHS/HSE procedures and contractor compliance.
• Good knowledge of applicable Ukrainian environmental, labour and occupational health and safety legislation.
• Experience in construction supervision or working directly with contractors on infrastructure projects is an advantage.
• Fluent English is required; knowledge of Ukrainian and/or other local languages will be considered an asset.
• Strong analytical, communication and reporting skills.
• Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel and other standard office applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor implementation of Environmental Management Plans (EMP/ESMP) and occupational health and safety requirements throughout project implementation.
• Monitor contractors' compliance with EHS requirements, Ukrainian legislation and contractual obligations.
• Conduct regular site inspections and EHS audits, identify risks and follow up on corrective actions.
• Review contractors' EHS documentation, risk assessments and method statements.
• Monitor environmental aspects of construction, including waste management, pollution prevention and protection of water resources.
• Support incident and accident reporting and investigation.
• Monitor compliance with applicable IFI environmental and social standards.
• Prepare and contribute to EHS and environmental reports for the Project Management Team and Client.
• Provide EHS advice and recommendations to the project team and contractors.
