ZOA, as an international NGO, supports people who have lost everything due to armed conflict or natural disaster. Together, we can come to their aid in emergencies and remain faithful to communities as they recover — providing new opportunities for them to help themselves again.

In April 2022 ZOA started in Ukraine with relief activities for IDPs in Uzhgorod and Zakarpattia region. Today our teams work in Chernihiv and, Sumy covering northern Ukraine,and in Kryvij Rih and, Mykolaiv, covering Kherson and southern Ukraine. The focus of ZOA’s programming is on the most vulnerable people in rural areas with large scale cash, shelter, WASH and livelihood programmes. We invite you to join our team of committed colleagues.

Your challenge

The Project Officer is responsible for the effective implementation of assigned projects in Mykolaiv region, ensuring that activities are delivered in line with project objectives, donor requirements, ZOA strategies, quality standards, and relevant sectoral approaches.

Main activities

  • Conduct beneficiary assessments and support field-level verification processes, including in coordination with external technical experts where relevant.
  • Maintain regular communication with partner organisations implementing ZOA-supported activities in the respective region and support the monitoring of partner-led activities.
  • Conduct beneficiary registration in line with approved procedures and project requirements.
  • Carry out monitoring visits, follow-up calls, and other accountability-related activities with beneficiaries and households.
  • Support the implementation of ZOA’s complaints and feedback mechanism, including receiving, documenting, and referring complaints and feedback in line with internal procedures.
  • Support the Project Coordinator in compiling and analysing monitoring and evaluation data.
  • Prepare beneficiary agreements, contracts, and related documentation, and arrange their signing in line with project procedures.
  • Draft project updates, activity reports, and other project documentation as required.
  • Ensure that all relevant project documentation is properly maintained and regularly archived in line with ZOA guidelines.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in humanitarian action, development studies, social sciences, or another relevant field is an asset;
  • At least 3 years of relevant field experience in a similar role;
  • Familiarity with Project Cycle Management;
  • Working knowledge of spoken and written English is an asset.

  • Good understanding of humanitarian programming and operations;

  • Accurate and detail-oriented working style;
  • Organisational awareness and sensitivity;
  • Planning and organisational skills;
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and contribute to team learning and improvement;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Special conditions

  • The duty station for this position is Mykolaiv, with regular travel within the assigned area of implementation and other locations as required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to field locations and project implementation.
