Basel Institute on Governance

The Basel Institute on Governance is an international and independent not-for-profit

organisation working across sectors to counter corruption and other financial crimes and to

improve the quality of governance. Registered as a Swiss foundation with headquarters in

Basel, the Basel Institute works globally to advance knowledge, practice and policy on anti

corruption, asset recovery and business integrity. With field operations around the world, it has

some 130 staff from 28 nationalities. The Basel Institute is an Associated Institute of the

University of Basel.

The Basel Institute is providing a range of advisory services to Ukraine’s government, private,

and non-governmental sectors to mitigate corruption risks. This work started before Russia’s

full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, but has since increased in response to the

fundamentally changed risk profiles of our partners.
