RESUME
I'm Dr Oleg V. Mazurenko MD PhD. associate professor in Disaster and military faculty, National
Healthcare University named P.L.Shupic.
Education: 1981-1987 General Medicine at the Kyiv Medical Institute named O.O.Bogomolets,
Ukraine .
Military experience (December 1988 - December 1990) as Medical service commander and physician
of Military Base provided the primary medical care to soldieries, officers and their families. These
includes a wide spectrum of medical activities from immunization to medical assistance for patients
with non-communicable disease.
Since 1991 after my demobilization, I worked at the Municipal Emergency Aid Hospital as surgeon (full
time) and for Ukrainian Disaster and Emergencies Service (part time). Then I was Involved in the
American Health Alliance educational project for trainers in field of Emergency medicine (1997).
Since April 1 2000 till September 30, 2000, I had completed Disaster Medicine Fellowship at the
University of Massachusetts Medical School (Worcester, MA).
Since 1999 I worked at Ukrainian Disaster and Emergency Medicine center as emergency surgeon
(full time). The Emergency and Primary Care I provided along Emergency medical assistance to
victims suffered after huge Earthquakes in India (2001) and in Iran (2003) as physician at the
Ukrainian tent hospital. I used to provide emergency and primary health assistance to victims due to
disaster as well as mission planning.
I was involved to International and National Training courses on fieled of Disaster medicine like as
Health responce to Nuclear (I had Course Director role there) and Chemical accidents or disasters
under IAEA or OPCW, (as Course Director or Invited speaker, trainer. These trainings hold on in
Ukraine or abroad.
When the crisis in Ukraine (2014) has begun the World Health Organization in cooperation with
Ministry of Health of Ukraine, National Committee of Red Cross and the International Medical Corps
established a number Mobile Emergency Primary Care Units (MEPU). The main task of these teams
were health respond in Eastern Ukraine and to provide quality health service to Internally displaced
people (ID's). I have been involved to this project as instructor and trainer for a new MEPU medical
staff (2015).
Since Jul 2018 I worked as Back-Up medical Service Provider at the US Peace Corps Medical Office.
Since April 2022 till July 2022 I has activities as medical provider at the Mobile Clinic under
"Mediciens sans frontiers" in Ukraine.
Since November 2022 till May 2024 I worked as instructor and team leader on ATLS courses which
used to provide by International Medical Corp, Harvard Humanitarian Initiative under USAID.
