Within the “New Face of the Border” project, funded by the U.S. Department of State,
IOM supported the re-staffing of the entry points to Ukraine. IOM also designed an
e-recruitment system, provided its software and hardware, developed modern hiring
procedures, updated training programs for border guards, and assisted with recruitment
advertising. IOM also facilitated the engagement of EU and national experts to ensure
transparency and impartiality of the recruitment process. I was involved as a national
expert in facilitating the transformation of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine to
an effective European Union-compliant law enforcement service and conducted training
courses on human rights for the SBGS officers.
