I am writing this personal statement to apply for the one-year academic exchange at the University of Lorraine in Metz, France, within the program “International Management and Trade.”
In the autumn of 2022, I made the decision to pursue my studies at the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, motivated by over ten years of language learning experience — particularly in English and French. This in-depth study of languages not only broadens my horizons and provides valuable life experience but also equips me with the essential skills for my future profession as a translator. Among them are the core language competencies: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. In May 2025, I participated in an IELTS mock exam and achieved the following results: 6.5/9 in Listening, 9/9 in Reading, 7/9 in both Writing and Speaking. The certificate is attached below.

Throughout my studies, I have developed both written and oral translation skills. While practicing simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, I discovered my passion for oral translation, which demands even more practice and flexibility than written translation. Consequently, I continuously work on improving my brain’s neuroplasticity to efficiently switch between languages and quickly find the right words — a skill that also enhances my overall learning ability. My field of study also requires a rich vocabulary, which I actively expand by reading diverse literature. Reading is not only part of my academic development but also one of my hobbies. Since September 2023, I have been a member of the student-led book club founded by the Faculty Student Parliament.
Between June 13, 2023 and August 19, 2023, I worked at a language summer camp, teaching English to children under the age of 14. This experience taught me how to build trust and rapport with children — skills I continued to refine while working at the language school EasyStudy from January 2024 to May 2024. In parallel, since October 2023, I have been offering private English lessons to children and teenagers. These teaching experiences have helped me cultivate emotional intelligence, decision-making abilities, cognitive flexibility, creativity, critical thinking, and interpersonal communication — all crucial for both educational and professional growth.
Moreover, from June 29, 2025 to July 18, 2025, I was a participant in the Summer School organized by the University of Lorraine in Metz, France. This experience allowed me to develop my teamwork and collaboration skills while working with peers from diverse backgrounds. The certificate is attached below.

Since October 2024, I have also been actively involved in the student government at my faculty, particularly in the Academic and Research Department of the Student Parliament. During this time, I helped organize a charity fundraiser for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (October 31, 2024), a Literary Evening (April 8, 2025), the Faculty Open Day (May 3, 2025), and the Faculty Day celebration (May 7, 2025).
