On behalf of Thomas Cook, Ciklum is looking for Senior Oracle DBA to join our Kyiv team on a full-time basis.

This role is responsible for large scale web applications within the Thomas Cook Retail Engineering teams. You will champion agile practices within the team including Scrum. You will engage as a part of development team, helping and being responsible for maintenance, development and optimization of business logic implemented within Oracle database server.

You will be a part of Web RIO team. Web RIO is Thomas Cook Groups strategic retail point of sale system currently being utilized in the UK managing millions of trans actions per year. It’s currently under continuous development and maintenance delivering new functionality for its core Retail users, serving customers and strategic Projects across the group. Web RIO is a true Omni Channel system supporting Online, bricks and mortar Stores and contact centre users.


  • Architecture and solution development for Oracle in development and production environments
  • Troubleshooting problems and providing solutions with existing technology stack
  • Maintain and adhere to database standards and develop new standards as appropriate
  • Monitor database performance and participate in resolution of any performance issues
  • Work as a part of software development Scrum team
  • Participate in projects delivering new business functionality
  • Participate in and contribute to process improvements and best practices implementation
  • Collaborate with 3rd party vendors rendering production support from various countries


  • Expert knowledge and 3+ years of Database Administration experience with IBM’s Oracle
  • Database upgrades and patching, specifically experience with version 10+ of Oracle
  • Strong skills in database performance tuning for high volume, web-based applications
  • Actual hands-on experience with troubleshooting and resolving database performance issues
  • Excellent collaboration skills with a proven track record in working with development teams to evaluate, plan and implement database solutions
  • Strong ability to determine database capacity needs to meet business as usual and peak loads
  • Good command of English


  • Database experience with IBM WebSphere
  • Some experience in MS SQL Server database administration
