Node.js Backend Developer / Full-Stack Developer

Project: EzAuto — Rent-to-Own Vehicle Platform, South Africa

We are looking for a s Node.js Developer to join the development of EzAuto, a South African rent-to-own vehicle platform helping customers apply online, get pre-approved, browse vehicles, and connect with the team faster.

This role is ideal for a developer who can build reliable backend systems, improve lead flows, support CRM/admin tools, and work with integrations such as payments, email, SMS/WhatsApp, analytics, vehicle data, and third-party services.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js.
• Build and improve APIs for applications, vehicle listings, lead forms, customer profiles, dealership forms, and admin tools.
• Work on CRM-style workflows: lead capture, status tracking, customer communication, task management, and reporting.
• Integrate external services such as payment providers, analytics, email/SMS/WhatsApp tools, and possible credit/verification providers.
• Improve database structure, performance, security, and data reliability.
• Support frontend developers with clean and well-documented APIs.
• Help automate internal business processes for sales, support, and operations teams.
• Monitor bugs, fix production issues, and improve system stability.
• Work with sensitive customer data responsibly and follow secure development practices.

Required Skills

• Strong experience with Node.js.
• Experience with REST APIs and backend architecture.
• Good knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Experience with authentication, roles, permissions, and secure user data handling.
• Ability to work with third-party integrations and webhooks.
• Git experience and ability to work in a structured development workflow.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• English communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with NestJS.
• Experience with React / Next.js.
• Experience building CRM, fintech, automotive, marketplace, rental, or lead-generation platforms.
• Experience with payment systems, credit checks, KYC, document upload flows, or customer verification.
• Experience with AWS, DigitalOcean, Docker, CI/CD.
• Understanding of analytics, tracking, Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, and conversion events.

Project Tasks May Include

• Improving the online application flow.
• Building an internal dashboard for leads and customer applications.
• Creating vehicle inventory management tools.
• Building dealership partner registration and management features.
• Automating email/SMS/WhatsApp notifications.
• Creating reporting dashboards for applications, approvals, sales, and conversions.
• Improving website speed, backend performance, and data security.
• Supporting integrations with CRM, payment, analytics, and marketing tools.
