System administrator

We’re looking for a System Administrator to keep our internal systems, servers, and workstation environments running smoothly and securely — and to support server infrastructure for our IoT device project (MQTT brokers, Node.js/Python backend servers). You’ll be the first dedicated sysadmin hire, working closely with engineering and operations. As the company grows, this role is expected to evolve into leading a small systems/IT team.

What You’ll Do

Internal systems

• Administer internal servers, networks, and workstation fleets
• Maintain and troubleshoot Linux-based systems and services
• Manage user access, permissions, and account provisioning
• Support and maintain internal tools (accounting systems, internal apps, VPN/network access)
• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and security hardening practices
• Provide day-to-day IT support to the team (hardware, software, access issues)
• Help evaluate and roll out new internal tooling (e.g. accounting or ERP system migrations)

IoT project support

• Maintain server uptime and health for MQTT broker infrastructure
• Support Node.js and Python backend servers powering device communication (monitoring, restarts, log review, basic troubleshooting)
• Monitor dashboards and alerts (Grafana/Prometheus) set up by the DevOps engineer, and respond to first-line alerts
• Assist with cross-region/infrastructure migrations alongside the DevOps engineer
• Escalate and coordinate with the DevOps engineer on deeper infrastructure or scaling issues

General

• • Eventually: build out and lead a systems/IT support team as headcount grows

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of experience in system administration
• Strong Linux fundamentals (networking, permissions, services, troubleshooting)
• Experience with user/access management and basic security practices
• Comfortable supporting both infrastructure and end-user IT needs
• Basic familiarity with message-queue/broker concepts (MQTT or similar) is a plus
• Basic comfort navigating Node.js and Python server environments (starting/stopping services, reading logs) is a plus
• Familiarity with reading Grafana dashboards / responding to Prometheus alerts is a plus
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) is a plus
• Experience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g. 1C/BAS, Odoo) is a plus
• Leadership potential or prior team coordination experience is a strong plus
