Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is currently looking for a WASH/Shelter/NFI Coordinator to join the team in Dnipro office, Ukraine.

General information:

  • Organization: Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH), Warsaw based international non-governmental organization with representation office in Ukraine
  • Position: WASH/Shelter/NFI Coordinator
  • Location: Dnipro with frequent field visits
  • Job terms: Full-time
  • Duration: by 31 December 2026 (3 month of probation period) with possibility for extension
  • Starting date: ASAP

About PAH:

Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is an international non-governmental organization which since 1992 has been providing humanitarian and development help worldwide. So far, the interventions have been carried out in 46 different countries. By possessing long-standing expertise in the implementation of projects in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Food Security and Livelihoods, as well as Nutrition and Education, PAH concentrates its global activities on ensuring sustainable and stable development of regions suffering from the consequences of armed conflicts, natural disasters and other humanitarian crises.

PAH has been present in Ukraine since August 2014 delivering humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable of the conflict-affected population. PAH provides assistance to internally displaced people, elderly and single mothers, working in the sectors of food security protection and livelihoods. PAH Ukraine is currently expanding programming from humanitarian to both early recovery and development-oriented interventions that provide sustainable livelihoods opportunities to the affected population.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with WASH/SNFI Manager coordinating Shelter NFI, WASH needs assessment in the respective areas and multiple regions in Ukraine and participate in designing the WASH/SNFI program strategy and plan;·
  • Establishing team for WASH/SNFI component in respective areas — support recruitment;
  • Managing and overseeing the development, implementation, quality, reporting and monitoring (in cooperation with MEAL team) of the WASH/Shelter/NFI projects in Dnipro and in other locations in Ukraine as needed;
  • Liaise with external stakeholders (partners, donors, and local authorities) and represent PAH in the relevant working groups & coordination meetings (Shelter NFI and WASH);
  • Ensuring proper monitoring of implementation through regular field visits and ensure appropriate monitoring, evaluation and learning systems are in place and identify lessons learned for future programming (in cooperation with MEAL team);
  • Preparing regular work plans in line with the implementation plan and ensure timely implementation of activities in Dnipro and other locations as needed;
  • Coordinating and monitoring actions of the subcontracted parties participating in the project- liaising with any emerging subcontractor: construction companies, artists/designers, suppliers (together with Log Department, WASH and Shelter Engineer);
  • Adjusting the tools (and/or working with for SNFI/WASH Manager on activities in Ukraine context — forms, manuals, guidelines, manuals, procedures etc.);
  • Reviewing and preparing intervention and relevant donor reports, including reporting through programme tracking tool (in cooperation with SNFI/WASH Manager/HOP/GMC);
  • Cultivating new relationships and build strong partnerships with local stakeholders including government and non-government organizations
  • Perform regular project site visits;
  • Complete other tasks delegated by supervisor
  • Preparation of BoQs for the Shelter and WASH Projects
  • Working for the development of the Concept notes and proposals for the future funding opportunities with institutional donors and also PAH own funding;
  • Involved and provide detailed inputs to the appraisals conducted for the Engineers and officers level and timely submission of the feedback, preparation and goals settings for the wash engineers and officers.

WASH/Shelter/NFI Coordinator will be selected based on the qualification requirements described below:

  • Higher professional education in the relevant field of study (master's degree, specialist);
  • Professional experience of more than 5 years
  • At least 3 years of work experience in international or local NGO;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (is a must) and Ukrainian;
  • Understanding of the context of locations;
  • Understanding of international humanitarian work;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and research skills
