The Embassy of Switzerland in Kyiv is looking for a

Communications Officer (100%)

as soon as possible or as of 01.10 2026

The Communications Officer plays a key role in the Embassy’s Political, Economic and Cultural Division, being responsible for drafting and coordinating external communication of the Embassy, including the media relations and coverage of the implementation of the Ukraine Country Programme 2025−28. The Communications Officer assumes a leadership role in coordinating the development and implementation of the Embassy’s communication strategy and the promotion of Switzerland’s image in Ukraine, working closely with the Embassy’s management team.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Development and production of Communication Materials: Drafting, editing, coordinating and disseminating communication materials (such as social media posts, press releases, internal communication) while ensuring consistency in tone, messaging, and visual identity, including for the design and production of visual materials.
• Management of the Embassy webpage and Social Media Presence: Overseeing and updating the Embassy’s website and presence on social media (X, Facebook, LinkedIn).
• Media Relations and Monitoring: Building and maintaining active relationships with media representatives at the national, regional, and local levels, organizing media briefings, drafting talking points and monitoring relevant media outlets.

Required academic qualifications & Professional experience:

• University degree (Master's level) or a comparable education in international relations, communication studies, political science, public diplomacy, or a related field;
• At least 5 years work experience in the Ukrainian governmental, private sector and/or an embassy or international organisation;
• Deep knowledge of the Ukrainian communication and media landscape;
• Excellent record in organisational use of social media (Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, etc.)
• Knowledge of Switzerland, its media sector and culture, as well as Swiss national languages (German, French or Italian) is an asset.

Required skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and advanced editorial skills in both Ukrainian and English
• Strong strategic communication skills, including the ability to translate complex policy issues into clear, accessible and audience-appropriate messages.
• Well-structured and well organized, highly flexible with ability to work under pressure
• Strong analytical, conceptual and networked thinking
• Networking Skills: Proficient in building and maintaining professional relationships across diverse sectors

Other conditions of employment:

Type of Position: Full-time, 40 working hours per week. Staff recruited locally by the Swiss Embassy in Kyiv is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Ukrainian employment law.

All applicants should have the right to live and work in Ukraine. Persons potentially subject to military service have to provide proof of their valid military registration. The Embassy does not sponsor work permits and costs connected with relocation if offered a position.
