Videographer, Motion Graphics Designer

Location: Kyiv, with occasional travel to regions, as needed

General Background: Mobile Justice Teams (MJTs) are groups of local and international experts and practitioners collaborating with and in support of local justice actors, such as Ukraine’s Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG) and Regional Prosecutor Offices (RPOs), to advance Ukraine’s capacity to investigate and build complex command-level cases into international crimes through tailored support and the institutionalisation of international standards and best practices. The MJTs are organised across thematic areas to address context-specific and cross-cutting legal issues.

The teams work in the most affected regions of Ukraine to provide advisory and case-building support, focusing on supporting prosecutors and investigators in their investigations and prosecutions.

Purpose & Objective

The Videographer/Motion Graphics Designer will produce short, high-quality video content — including explainer videos, motion graphics, and informational videos — that supports GRC’s programmes, events, and advocacy work. The role will strengthen GRC’s communications by translating complex legal, social, and humanitarian topics into clear, accessible visual narratives that engage and inform a broad audience about international crimes and human rights abuses committed during Russia’s war against Ukraine, their investigation and prosecution, and related accountability topics, including the impact of GRC’s work.

Responsibilities

● Produce, at least, one finalised video on a monthly basis (explainer, motion graphic, or informational video). Creation of each video will include:

● Driving the ideation and planning of video content, ensuring output aligns with programme and advocacy priorities, with input and support from the Communications and project teams.

● Combining stock footage with original material.

● Designing and animating motion graphics and explainer videos to present complex legal and programmatic content in an accessible way.

● Filming original video content (e.g. short interviews, field missions, trainings, roundtables and other events) as required.

● Developing simple illustrations or graphic elements to support video content.

● Ensuring all video is delivered with source files and export formats suitable for web and social media use.

● Ensuring all video content is consistent with GRC’s visual identity and brand guidelines.

● Preparing subtitles/captions in both Ukrainian and English.

● Liaising with the Communications team on messaging, timelines, and priorities.

● Managing video assets, ensuring proper archiving, and maintaining an organised media library.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

● 3+ years proven experience producing video content (explainers, motion graphics, informational videos).

● Strong sense of storytelling, with the ability to translate complex legal, social, and humanitarian topics into engaging visual narratives.

● Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects (or equivalent industry-standard software).

● Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop for graphic design and illustration.

● Proven filming/camera skills.

● Ability to identify and propose engaging content ideas and topics.

● Strong planning and self-management skills, combined with the ability to work effectively within a team.

● Solid portfolio showcasing relevant past videography and video editing projects, preferably related to nonprofits or advocacy work.

● Fluency in Ukrainian, with high working proficiency in English.
