Project Manager (Energy, Technical Infrastructure)

Nova Ukraine is an international nonprofit organization that has supported Ukraine for over 10 years through projects in healthcare, education, infrastructure, advocacy, and support for vulnerable groups. With the support of our donors and partners, we have provided more than $160 million in aid and services, reaching millions of people across Ukraine.

Today, we are evolving from crisis response toward strategic projects that contribute to Ukraine’s long-term resilience. Our work is focused on four key pillars: HEAL, BUILD, EMPOWER, and ADVOCATE.

We are looking for a motivated Project Manager — Energy & Technical Infrastructure to join our BUILD Pillar. In this role, you will lead energy projects from initial needs assessment and planning through procurement, implementation, handover, and monitoring. You will work closely with engineers, contractors, public authorities, community partners, and internal teams to deliver reliable energy solutions that help critical facilities and communities maintain essential services.

Our energy portfolio includes renewable energy systems, battery storage, generators, backup power solutions, and other interventions supporting hospitals, water systems, schools, rehabilitation facilities, and communities across Ukraine. The primary focus of this role will be the development and implementation of solar and hybrid power projects, with opportunities to support other technical infrastructure projects as needed.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can combine strong project management skills with practical technical understanding and confidently coordinate complex projects in a dynamic environment.

What We’re Looking For?

What is important:

✔ At least 3 years of relevant experience in project management, energy, infrastructure, engineering, construction, or another technical field

✔ Practical understanding of renewable energy, electrical systems, backup power, generators, or related infrastructure

✔ Ability to understand technical documentation and communicate effectively with engineers and contractors

✔ Experience managing budgets, timelines, vendors, procurement processes, and project documentation

✔ Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage several projects simultaneously

✔ Ability to take ownership, identify problems early, and follow projects through to completion

✔ Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills

✔ Fluency in Ukrainian

✔ English at B1/Intermediate level or above

✔ Confident use of Google Workspace, particularly Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Slides

✔ Willingness and ability to travel within Ukraine for meetings and project visits

✔ Alignment with Nova Ukraine’s mission and values

Would be a plus:

✔ Degree in energy, electrical engineering, civil engineering, construction, or another relevant technical field

✔ Direct experience with solar photovoltaic systems, battery storage, hybrid energy systems, or generator projects

✔ Experience with technical procurement, contractor selection, tender documentation, or cost comparison

✔ Experience working with communities, regional authorities, hospitals, utilities, or other public institutions

✔ Experience in the humanitarian, non-profit, international development, or recovery sector

✔ Experience with donor-funded projects and reporting requirements

✔ Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM systems

✔ Familiarity with Asana or other project-management systems

✔ Experience with project commissioning, post-installation monitoring, or energy-performance assessment

What You’ll Do:

✔ Manage energy projects through the full project cycle, including needs assessment, planning, budgeting, procurement, implementation, handover, and monitoring

✔ Coordinate technical assessments and help define project requirements together with engineers, contractors, beneficiaries, and local authorities

✔ Prepare project plans, scopes of work, budgets, timelines, procurement documentation, and implementation records

✔ Review technical and commercial proposals and support transparent contractor and supplier selection

✔ Coordinate contractors, suppliers, partners, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to agreed requirements

✔ Monitor project risks, dependencies, implementation progress, and required approvals

✔ Conduct site visits and participate in technical inspections, installation monitoring, commissioning, and handover when required

✔ Ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, and properly maintained in Nova Ukraine’s internal systems

✔ Prepare project updates, reports, presentations, and other materials for leadership, partners, and donors

✔ Support winterization planning and emergency energy-response activities

✔ Monitor completed projects and collect information on system performance, beneficiaries, and impact

✔ When capacity allows, support other technical infrastructure projects within the BUILD portfolio
