The Safety Specialist is responsible for monitoring driver compliance with FMCSA regulations and company safety policies. This role focuses on preventing safety violations, reducing accidents, improving CSA scores, and supporting drivers through coaching and corrective actions. The Safety Specialist works closely with drivers, dispatchers, and management to ensure safe and compliant fleet operations.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor driver compliance with FMCSA regulations and company safety policies.
• Review and investigate safety events, accidents, violations, and roadside inspections.
• Conduct driver coaching sessions regarding safety performance and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor HOS violations, ELD compliance, and driver qualification status.
• Process accident reports and coordinate incident documentation.
• Track CSA scores and identify trends requiring corrective action.
• Communicate with drivers regarding safety concerns and required corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
• Assist with onboarding and safety orientation for new drivers.
• Work with Operations, Dispatch, and Maintenance teams to improve overall fleet safety.
• Escalate critical safety issues to management when necessary.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to fleet safety and compliance.

Requirements

• Intermediate or higher English proficiency (written and spoken).
• Experience in the U.S. trucking industry (Safety, Compliance, Dispatch, or Operations preferred).
• Understanding of FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS), ELDs, and CSA.
• Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to analyze safety events and make informed decisions.
• High level of responsibility, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
