SOS Children’s Villages Ukraine is the part of the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages International (SOS CV). As a non-governmental social development organization, we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners.

About the Project

JOFU: Joining Forces for Child Protection in Ukraine as part of an international consortium led by Plan International and composed of Child Fund, Save the Children International, Terres des Hommes, and World Vision, together with 10 Ukrainian partners. The project is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO).

The project aims to contribute to an improved protection environment for children, adolescents, and their families in war-affected frontline areas and non-government controlled areas of Ukraine, where their urgent basic needs are met. SOS CV Ukraine will operate in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, delivering child protection services, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and humanitarian assistance to vulnerable children and families in the most affected communities.

For the realization of this project we are looking for an experienced and committed

Project Manager (f/m)

Location: Ukraine, Kherson/Mykolaiv regions (with possible remote coordination from Kyiv)

Type of contract: Employment contract

Duration: 20 months (07.2026 — 02.2028)

Requirements:

  • University degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Management or other related fields.
  • At least 3−5 years of practical experience in project management in NGOs.
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of social services development.
  • Knowledge of Project Cycle Management including needs assessment, project design, development and implementation, M&E, reporting.
  • Ability to process large amounts of diverse information, analyze it and generate reports.
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to lead/coordinate/motivate and support field office staff.
  • Flexible, able to work in a team and independently in a fast paced and often changing environment.
  • Ability to establish strong and effective working relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and problem solving skills, strong negogiation skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, within tight deadlines, work under pressure and cope with stress
  • Proficiency in English and Ukrainian, written and spoken.
  • Good proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and online video conferencing tools (MS Teams, Zoom etc.).
  • Sharing the values, aims and objectives of organisation, and commitment to humanitarian principles and international humanitarian standards.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Ensures the implementation of the project in accordance with the contract, donor requirements and consortium agreements.
  • Fulfils approved project terms and conditions, meets deadlines, monitors the achievement of project goals and indicators.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperation with key project stakeholders, consortium members, local authorities, and community representatives.
  • Ensures effective communication between all participants in order to achieve the project’s objectives.
  • Organises and monitors the work of trainers, experts, field staff and subcontractors.
  • Actively participates in recruitment and effectively manages project staff in the target regions.
  • Provides monitoring and evaluation of the project, including daily/weekly/monthly monitoring, mid-term review and final evaluation.
  • Responsible for regular budget follow-up, ensures that expenses are in line with the budget.
  • Participates in procurement procedures in accordance with organisational policies.
  • Prepares reports, updates, presentations and other necessary documents for working meetings, donor reporting and consortium coordination.
  • Ensures that child safeguarding and child protection are streamlined in all operations and activities.
  • Keeps the team informed of the latest security information based on the recommendations of the Security Advisor.
  • Ensures adherence to SOS CV policies and procedures as well as to international humanitarian standards and principles.
