Freight Dispatcher — US Trucking

We are looking for an experienced Freight Dispatcher to join our team and work with the U.S. transportation market.

This position is ideal for a dispatcher who understands the realities of U.S. trucking, knows how to work with Dry Vans and Reefers, communicates confidently with brokers and drivers, and can effectively manage multiple trucks in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of proven experience as a Freight Dispatcher in the U.S. trucking industry.
• Strong experience dispatching Dry Vans and Reefers.
• Good understanding of the U.S. freight market, lanes, rates, and seasonality.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to negotiate competitive rates with brokers.
• Experience working with load boards such as DAT or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
• Strong spoken and written English.
• Excellent phone and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively under pressure.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Search for and book profitable loads for assigned trucks.
• Negotiate rates and terms with freight brokers.
• Plan routes and maintain efficient schedules for drivers.
• Coordinate daily operations between drivers, brokers, customers, and the company.
• Track shipments and monitor loads from pickup through delivery.
• Provide drivers with all necessary load information and instructions.
• Handle delays, appointment changes, detention, breakdowns, and other issues that may arise during transportation.
• Maintain accurate load and shipment information in the TMS.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with brokers and drivers.

Key Skills

Communication: Strong phone and verbal communication skills to coordinate effectively with drivers, clients, and brokers.

Technical Proficiency: Confident use of load boards such as DAT etc, as well as Transportation Management Software.

Organization: Ability to manage multiple drivers and loads simultaneously, maintain schedules, track shipments, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.

Negotiation: Ability to analyze available freight, negotiate strong rates, and make decisions that maximize truck profitability.
